Just beautiful! And thanks to bowlds for finding the url. I am inspired!
It looks very nice. Nice way to gussy up a ho hum lamp shade/lillian
Lovely job...The thin fabric really lets the light shine though...
Looks so beautiful and precious. I've made mine the same way: Design right side to the lamp and then fix it with needles so it fits tight and without wrinkles. You can make a cover for the round one the same way and nearly did not see the ridges afterwards if you choose a fabric like mine (a thin ones like yours maybe show them).
Greetings, Bettina
PS: In the link is a round lamp :o)
I originally got this covered lamp idea from you, as you will remember! Thanks!
This turned out very pretty and elegant. Good job done
Love the light, the design looks as if imprinted on it similar to etched glass, great job. ;-)
I think that you did a lovely job on this & just wish that this lamp was available in Canada Ikea but alas tis not so I can admire from afar! ~hugs~
I have 6 from my last trip a while ago. There is a round one like a cylinder but it has ridges and cost more
how do you get the fabric the right size? Mine was too big too fit so I cut it down and made it too small. Do you have measurements or do you just eyeball it ? Any hints or tips?
I put the design on a larger piece of fabric than I need then trim it to fit. I usually finish the top correctly to the design then lay it on the lamp and measure the bottom that length, 9" high is about right. Then I roll the top and bottom edges on my serger. I then lay it right side down on my lamp and pin the back seam so it slides easily on the lamp. I baste this to double check then serge a rolled seam in the back.
It's very pretty. I take it you repeated the pattern.Tell me since you said your fabric was very thin, what stabilizer did you use? I am going to emb on a hankie that is very thin, look in Community/Embroidery and advise me please....Again, I love how this turned out.-Toogie
I used 2 layers of Vilene. I needed a washaway so it wouldn't show thru on the back. It worked great.
