Karlie will love this Jerri, great job and congratulations on her Graduation. Love Chris
Thanks Chris: I am so anxious to get it back from the Quilter to see how it looks finished. It is a big quilt...60"x104". It was my first and learnt so much. I should have made the borders smaller, but it was a learning experience...
Jerri this is wonderful & I can imagine the anticipation that you both must be feeling waiting for it to come back from the quilter! So exciting to see all this work come to fruition! I like Jerrilyn's idea about adding your photo to the label too so she will have you with her always! ~hugs~
I had already added the picture of Karlie and I to the back of the bag. Jerrilyn was just commenting, that she thought it was a good idea.
I think putting your picture with her on the back is a lovely idea. I would make it so that she can choose this side as the front or the other as the front as it suits her. What a lucky girl!!
Thank you Jerrilyn: I put a hidden zipper on the back side, so I guess she could still choose which is the front or back.
Hugs Jerri
Love the blues and she will be anything but "blue" when you present it.
Thank you, I let her pick out the fabrics. The floral block is a very pretty fabric. It is what I am backing the quilt with and may use it on the back of the storage bag as well. I will finish it, when I get the quilt back, so I know if I need to make it bigger.
Those blocks are lovely! That will make a beautiful bag for safekeeping.
The quilter's guild here advices to roll the quilt (round the hanging sleeve if it has one) and store the "sausage" in a fitting bag. I have got two stored that way, others folded, but those two don't have semi-permanent creases.
Thank you Mops. I thought doing it this way would be easier for her to store when she doesn't have the quilt out.
When I made my great-nephews quilt I also made a bag for storage when not in use, I stipple around two extra blocks I had and then added a long zipper across the top to keep out any dust and light, from the look of the front panel her quilt will be a treasure..
I am going to put a zipper on the back and am thinking of putting a picture of her and I on the back as well.
Jerri, what a terrific idea and certainly a keepsake!
Thank you. The quilter said to store it in a pillow case, so I decided to make this instead.
It's going to be very nice Jerri/Lillian
Thank you. I am thinking of putting a picture of her and I on the back, just trying to think of something I want to say with the picture. I have made a special label and also a little Made by label, so maybe put the picture with the Made by label. Too tired to think about it.
Great work Jerri .Maybe you could make a bag like i did for the shavers only way lager??
Love your work and so will they/she /all them :):)Hugs Carolyn
Thanks Carolyn. Not sure how I am going to finish it, but have some time to think about it. Just wanted to get the top done first. Hugs
Your Granddaughter is so lucky to get this keepsake quilt. The colors are beautiful. Well done!!
Beautiful memory quilt! What a wonderful gift.
This isn't the quilt, just the bag to store it in. The quilt is 60x104. I can't wait to get it back and but the binding on and then it will be done. Then in 2 years start again for the next Grand to Graduate.
Beautiful idea for a wonderful memory quilt, smart granddaughter to want this as a treasured keepsake from you...her favorite grandmother!!!! :-)
Thank you. I have been a big part of her life. Was in the delivery room when she was born and lived about 5 minutes away. Its sad now, because they moved to Washington, and I am in BC, but its only a couple of hours away.
Keep in mind you were there for a lot of the important parts and created such wonderful memories to, with and for her to hold in her heart and in yours. :-)
