Update on Emma. She has gained weight a little over 5 Lbs. She is still eating every 3 hours, but only 50 cc. Dr wants her to gain more weight faster, so said to start her on rice cereal. Mother is very worried about how to feed her cereal and milk (in the bottle) with her cleft palate. There is an opening on each side between the gum line and the middle of her upper palate.
I will try to attach the quilt/blanket that I made her. Thank you all for your advice on the blankets.

My second son was born with a cleft lip and palate, he is 17 now with hopefully only one more operation to go. I used to just use the cereal to make the milk slightly thicker. You may need a teat with a larger hole on the bottle. (i used Farex baby cereal, not sure if you have that where you live.) Good luck

299559Blanket is beautiful, good job. They will show /teach mother what she needs to know to help her 'till she can have her reconstruction. I say this because that is what they use to do in the Nurseries at the Hospitals where I worked. I do not know just how they do now but it's probably even better than it use to be.
