Sarah don't be so hard on yourself the have turned out beautifully, and I think all Oxford Pillowcases need ironing and starching each time they're washed if your into that, but you have made a wonderful gift for her that she will cherish.. Marian
I understand how you feel about post wash appearances. I bought a bunch of beautiful colors kitchen towels. When I washed them to get the stabilizer out, they all faded so badly that even I would not have them in my kitchen. They are in the garage now. This really is well done considering you were working on two layers of fabric.
When we buy new, they do have all sorts of sizing stuff on them You might try ironing them with Best Press. That usually spruces up the finish pretty well for me. Sometimes I do them twice with it.
I only embroidered on the top surface as I did not want the back of the design to show through. Made placement quite difficult. I have sent you a PM about t shirts. See top of page where it says 'Inbox'.
Thanks for sharing, airyfairy! I'd never heard of these types of cases, they are quite lovely and I learned something new. I think they are fantastic. :-)
Thank you Leaha. They just look so much nicer/ smarter than ordinary pillowcases.
Lovely job and the fabric .... looks great also. I know few people that could hug a pillow to squishy flat with tons of wrinkles in nothing flat . So this looks very elegant. I love your added ribbon too.
Sarah they look fine. I was asked to stitch on a Oxford pillowcase but as yet have not taken up the challenge. A one day project... I am sure your friend will be delighted with your efforts
Thank you Caroline. I would have loved to have done more around the edge but the 4 corners x 2 with the placements was enough.
I agree with Michelle Sarah, we as embroiderer's are a picky bunch LOL but this set is lovely & I am sure your friend will love them!~hugs~
this is very nice Sarah, don't be so hard on yourself, they look great
hugs
Michelle
It is very pretty! Do not be so hard on yourself. I am sure your friend will love your work!
I think it's lovely...love the heirloom corner design you came up with!
They look fine,Sarah. Your thoughtfulness, and presentation, will be appreciated.
Lovely work - so sorry to hear the fabric wasn't what you wanted.
She is going to love them! When her head hits the pillow , her only thoughts will be what a great friend you are! Sweet dreams.
Don't despair. Your friend is gonna love them! It is difficult embroidering fine designs on pillowcases without them puckering after washing. If using thin stabilizer you get puckers if using thick stabilizer you get stiff pillowcases. Oh, the joy of embroidering :) I think that your friend is very lucky to have you as a friend!
