Wonderful job. I have found after years of sewing for young girls the fuller the skirt the happier they seem to be.
She's just lovely, and the dress too! Little girls just love to twirl don't they, They're just so precious at that age.
Adorable Chris, now wonder she wanted to take it home lol. Littlw girls like to show off and what nicer than to show off in this beautiful dress made by Grandma. you must be very proud!
Hi Edith, yes I was very pleased both girls wanted to wear them now. Love Chris
Lovely little one and dress. the floor matches so when when she is dizzy from twirling she can sit on it and pretend she is still going round! :-)
Thanks Leah, yes, everything has a touch of blue in my home! Ophelie just loves getting out on the back deck to watch the birds in the reserve and in our gumtree (at the moment with the Kookaburras in it). Love Chris
One happy child. I would have loved it, too, if it had been mine. This pattern is priceless! Kay
Hi Kay, I think we all one dress that we always loved when we were small. My favourite that Nanna made was a pin spot voile it was white with little red spots like tufts all over it. It had puffed sleeves and a sash to tie a big bow at the back. Fond memories indeed, love Chris
Don't be surprised if she still remembers it in 10 or 20 years time. My sister-in-law (20+ yrs older than me) made clothes for my sister and I when Mum was too busy and she was surprised that I could tell her the details of those outfits so many years later. I loved them just as much as Ophelie loves her dress.
Hi Pat, yes, I have fond memories of the things Nanna made for me and other favourite dresses over the years. Love Chris
That beautiful smile was well worth it. So precious. The dress is fantastic. And the wonderful memories to last a lifetime. Well done!
I hope she will remember her pretty dresses made by me. I remember the dresses my Nanna used to make when I was a wee lass. Love Chris
just adorable, how could you say no to such a lovely little grand daughter, your the best grandma (nana) a grand daughter could wish for. regards Lorraine
Thanks so much Lorraine, you are right, I can't say no to these gorgeous girls. Love Chris
Beautiful dress. How much fabric did it take and what type did you use?
You need 2 metres of each fabric! I only ever use cotton for dresses. Our summers are so hot! Love Chris
On the pattern they have all the yardages given for each age up to 12.
What a little sweetheart, Ophelie is. The dress is one she will love for a long time. The memories, will be there forever of the dress Nana made.
Can't wait to see Aqualina in hers. Hugs Lynn.
Hi Lyn, Aqualina is wearing hers today - just got a picture from Dana with A wearing it. Love Chris
love it, they are so happy to twirl in it LOL great job
Hi Michele, they certainly are. I've just received a picture about half an hour ago from Dana - Aqualina is wearing hers out today to go to the movies with their other Nan and Pop. She has put a little skivvy underneath as it's a bit cool today. Love Chris
There is nothing more precious than a little girl in a twirly dress! What pattern did you use?
So beautiful. I am pleased you let her take the dress home. She will get so much pleasure wearing it. She must be so proud that she has a Grand Mother who can make her such beautiful dresses. Hugs Shirley
Hi Shirley, yes the girls love the fact that I make them pretty dresses. Love Chris
No wonder she had to take the dress home! You can see how much she loves it! Turned out great!
Hi Linda, yes certainly loved it. I'll have to drop off Aqualina's to her home today. The kids are off on school holidays on Saturday. Love Chris
The model and the dress are both adorable. Can tell she does love it.
So precious! I can tell she is happy with her new dress! You are a wonderful grandmother! Love, Yoriko
Good morning Yoriko, thanks for commenting. I love what you've been doing with the money card holders. Just saw you did one with the Maple Leaf, clever lady! Love Chris
ADORABLE!!! Both the model and the dress...love the twirl!
Thanks Kim, she certainly was chuffed when she put it on and danced around. Love Chris
What a great Grandma. I am jealous. I only have a boy, but a very dear one. But what the work you put into the dress.
Thanks Helen! It's all in the details isn't it? I loved Michele921's dresses that she made and that's why I bought the pattern. Love Chris
She will be twirling and twirling. She is adorable and so happy with grandmas creation.
Hi Angie, yes she loves Nanna's dresses and I try to make them a few each year. They are growing up so quickly though! Love Chris
Can you blame her - of course she wants it now and wants to wear it to some parties!!! I have a feeling when her friend's mothers see this masterpiece - you will be getting some calls wondering if you will take orders!!!! Ophelie loves it!! Hugs, Laura*
Hi Laura, well I know of 2 of Amy's girlfriends who will comment and be envious. I don't make clothes for anyone other than my family, unless it's a real plea! Haven't had to as yet! Love Chris
Gorgeous little grand in a stunning dress! Beautiful work, Chris!!! Hugs and ***4all***
I think the smile says it all. Love this dress, I have 3 ggd's that would love it. you did a great job grandmother!
Hi Sandy, yes, the smile says it all! Well, if you are going to make them I'd suggest you put all the fabrics together and cut them out at the one time! Thanks for the comment about our back deck. I love blue and our whole home is blue and cream. Trevor painted the back in a blue deck paint which actually has a nice sheen to it. Love Chris
oh , I love to see that happy face and gorgeous dress, Great idea she can wear it now already. let her wear it when she can, it's so adorable, better wear it often, before she she's grown too much.
Thank you for making me smile too :)
Thanks Gerry, yes, I thought the same. We have long summery type days starting soon anyway. Our daylight saving time starts next weekend - the first weekend in October and finishes March next year! So if they can get a lot of wear out of it I'd rather let them wear them now. Love Chris
I there is one thing I have learned Chris it's if made before Christmas don't let them see it. They want it now and you can't say no. LOL Beautiful is Ophelie and happiness is emanating from her in every direction. Hugs Lillian
So true! She just loved it and of course when she saw Aqualina's hanging up she wanted stars too in her dress. I told her no, I had made hers first and that was what her Mummy asked for. She accepted that answer, thankfully! Then she proceeded to twirl and twirl! Love Chris
Too much fun! That's what I would have done, too.
Definitely, she just went round and round in circles, till I got dizzy! Well, you were right Jerrilyn, both girls wanted them NOW!!!!! So I relented and let Ophelie take hers home. I'll drop off Aqualina's sometime later today (Thursday 25th September) Love Chris
Ohhhh Ophelie is so lovely and the dress is beautiful. Excelent work
Big Hug
Bela
Oh Well done Chris, she looks so happy and it looks beautiful on her. What lucky little girls they are to have such a clever Nan. xxxx
Just wanted to add Ophelie's mad hair day picture yesterday (Tuesday) she has another one tomorrow and she is going to be a unicorn! Love Chris
I love it. How in the world did she get her braids to stand up like that?/Lillian
Hi Lillian, my put pipe cleaners in there! Can't wait to see today's effort - she is going to be a Unicorn! Love Chris
These photos are so precious and tell the story. Look at her glowing with love and pride. She will certainly be the hit of the parties this year. Chris, it was worth every minute of work to make this beautiful dress.
Thanks Karen, I can't wait to see it with the full petticoat under it too. Amy told me there are going to be a lot of her friends who would want one! I hope they aren't expecting me to make them. What I should do is get someone to cut out the swirls, they take to longest to do. Love Chris
One happy little girl in the very beautiful dress her Nana has made her. I am not surprised that she (and her mum) don't want to wait for Christmas to be able to wear it
Hi Caroline, she certainly was happy with it as was Aqualina yesterday when she saw Ophelie's dress. I explained to Aqualina that hers was a bit different, but she didn't mind. Of course when Ophelie saw Aqualina's dress she wanted stars in hers too!! Kids!!!! I told her I'm not making another one in a hurry! Love Chris
