You are like Hubby and myself. You can't beat a good soak in a lovely hot bath. We are sort of looking to buy a house and when we see they have no bath tub we look at that one no further. Hope your new tub is installed soon and you will be able to soak off all that paint. Hugs Shirley
I have managed to get most of the paint off, but I am so looking forward to the new bath being installed next week. If only to get it out of the kitchen!
Well, OK...here's an unusual use for an old tub. We also had one years ago that we took out of the old house and it wound up in the back yard. My son who was 10 at the time...picked and stored night crawlers in it and had a booming fishing worm business. He put dirt and leaves in about half way and then the crawlers. Kept 'em all summer that way as it kept them cool. Old fishermen would call on Tuesday and order "five dozen from the boy on Friday" at $1 a dozen and that was back in the 80's. Good money for a youngster! He's a good businessman to this day. If your sewing business is slow, crawlers pay cash!! Ha!!
Your son at the age of 10 had a great head for making money. Good on him. Hugs
yep, our bath is old too and the water will not stay hot in it. However, luckily we prefer showers in our household.
I believe it would take active solar to keep the old tub warm. It is beautiful however. Hope your new tub is all you want it to be. Please let us know. I have a fiberglass jacuzzi and it is cold also!
This is too funny, I can just see a person in the tub surrounded by tea lights.... LoL
You must look so good in white paint. But your bathroom will be gorgeous and toasty when it is finished.
My daughter would probably pay the shipping cost for this 'beast' as you call it. My BIL had one and my daughter used to enjoy taking her baths there. When she was young, she told him when he died, she wanted that tub. He told her he hoped she wasn't in a hurry for it!-lol- She is in her 30's and he in his 80's, he still has the tub.
Oh, how I would LOVE to have your tub. There is nothing better than a long soak in hot bubbly water. It's my escape. I stayed in the tub so long last night, that hubby became concerned. I have a stool beside my (shallow, compared to yours)tub where I place my Kindle to read. Those tiny drips of water from my finger "turning" the page doesn't seem to bother it one bit.
My painting skills are legendary. That's all I will say about that.
Estate agents would shout "character" seeing your tub. Garden centers sell those heating cables for the greenhouse, wrapping those around the beast might be an unsightly solution. Ours is enamel and that has the same problem, to a lesser degree. Still haven't donated it to a local farmer - they use them as watering troughs :)
Congrats on the new one! Hope the plumbers keep their word. At least we all know what you will be doing when you're not here next week.
When you get your bath, with the wine and the book, don't get your book all wet!
Sorry Sue I am laughing but I do see the problem. The thought of tealights under the bath with you in it is also funny. Enjoy the new bath as I do have to say that the bath you have shown does not appear to fit in with my image of you. Now should you want to 'pop' over and have a hot bath here you are most welcome. Personally I just love a long hot bubble bath, so much so I think I will go and have one now...
It looks wonderful. You could sell it for lots of money! What kind are you going to put in?
I am also not very keen on the old fashioned look baths. I do love my shower but as you say there are times when there is nothing like a good soak. Please let us have a picture when your bath is in it's place
Here is the beast itself.
Maybe not functional, but it is beautiful, have u turned your geyser temperature up ?
I would LOVE that tub....newer ones aren't as deep or as comfortable to lie in....
I do hope you will like your new tub -- I would love your old one!
I can give you my address and you can ship the beast to me if you like. ;)
Like sewdoctor said the new ones are not deep enough or comfortable for a good long soak.
But the cast iron is soooo cold, it freezes any skin that touches it above the water line. Even if the water is really hot!
These are worth a small fortune stateside. Very hard to come by. A bath? can't climb into a tub anymore. I'd adore one though. Just to be able to soak the old tired bones. I'm not allowed to take baths as epileptics can have a seizure and drown.
This is absolutely gorgeous...you could always keep it and instead of the tea lights; build a campfire under the thing, that would accomplish heating the tub and keeping the water warm...Visualization is everything in this case. :-)
Lovely looking tub, but no good if the water does not stay hot. Looks nice and deep. hope your new one is a success. Hugs
My body would be covered in this one. I love, love, love the look, but understand that being warm is also important.
Looks beautiful shame it's not practical just proofs looks aren't every think enjoy your NEW ONE
Well I hardly use my tub, I get in ok but getting out is quite hard. I do love my hot spar that I use as much as I can. Your tub is amazing to look at maybe fill it with fish and Lilly's. hugs Heather
