I'm so glad to hear that you care so much where your dog is :) Some dogs aren't so lucky with the owners they get :( My neighbours have had a beagle cross for years that used to often get out before it was put onto a chain in their yard. The silly thing was, they went and got another one to keep it company so they were then both getting out! I've not had them call in here much at all for the last year or two, but they do know where to come if they get out, as does a golden lab a little further away who is also getting older and travelling less :) I think those 3 dogs would be a whole lot happier if their owners would take them for a daily walk :)
I can't walk very well---but---she is so much happier when I take her for a short walk--last night I did not take her for a walk and when she came in all she wanted to do was bark---so in a few minutes I will take her for a short walk---even though I have been shopping most of the afternoon---WALKING---I think she will be better if I do---she has a lot of room to run on her outside run---no fence to dig under--lots of play room--a good little dog--Thanks and God bless you.
So very glad you found a humane answer to your Houdini's frequent escapes.
Thankfully, here in NSW (Australia), microchipping dogs and cats is a matter of law, as much for their own protection as anything else. I think it is the best law they ever passed. :-)
I hope you have a long and happy life with your gorgeous girl.
She is a sweetie. The only dog that we have ever had that: if she gets something in her throat and starts coughing, I can pry her little mouth open and reach down her throat and pull out whatever has gotten caught. She does NOT fight it. She is just a sweetie. I think that microchip law is great---she is due to get hers in a few days---if I had been SMART, it would have been done a lot sooner than this. Thank you so much and God bless you.
A rescue dog that we had 30+ years ago used to love to go for walks. Long walks!! I ended up finding out the leash restrictions as set out by the RSPCA. Bobbie was allowed off his leash for an hour every twelve hours which was more often that the RSPCA required. When he did go for a walk he would end up returning several hours later. Remember one day we were going on a trip and he was to go with us. He slipped his leash and went for a stroll and a roll in smelly farm land.
I was 6 months pregnant so my DH washed the smelly dog & I brought half buckets of hot water out to him as the hose water was freezing cold. I had refused to travel in the car with a dog that stank! Being a wire hair, he was dry just on the nose.
He loved his car trip and we all had a swim in the sea.
WOW----this doggie seems to escape with her tie up lead that she has a run on outside. There is a very busy road in front of us but beside and behind us is woods and a start of a housing development. A few days ago when she escaped, she was found about a mile from home at a farm that is open seasonally---the workers opened their car door and the dog was in their lap---with her LEAD attached. They went door to door trying to find the owner and thankfully they stopped at a neighbor who knew her and they brought her home. God really does have a sense of humor!!!! Thank you and God bless you.
My dogs have always had tracking devices, although I have never had a dog that has strayed. Wish you many happy years with your beautiful dog. Hugs to you both.
She has TRULY become family. If you would be willing to share in a PM the types of tracking devices you used and how well they work, it would be wonderful. We have ordered and have appts to install 2 different devices. Thank you and God bless you.
I keep telling my dog, which was stray that he is now a "family dog"! Lol! He really is the best dog, even though has has bad table manners. Lol! He understands me so well and only understood Spanish when he arrived.
It's so hard to fall in love with a dog and then have to worry about it. I hope she stays home and enjoys her Mom and Dad
She is so hyper---and an overall good dog--loves to play with kitty---both are about the same size---like 2 kids--also hoping she can learn to stay home. Thank you and God bless you.
A friend of mine had a Lab that he could not keep in his yard. He would dig holes under the fence in order to escape. Glad she is back and I hope she will stay.
She has a run-cable where she has a tremendous amount of space to run--we could not keep her in a fenced yard---she DIGS!!!!!!!!!!! Big huge holes!!! Quite a dog!! Thank you and God bless you.
Glad you were able to get her back each time! Hopefully she won't continue to escape so that you will not need to see how good those security features work! Also keep trying to close up the gaps where she is able to get out of, since all security features are only just "so good" and all will only work if there are well meaning people who actually find her and help her make it back to you. Sounds like she gets majorly stressed when you leave and she has to be in the dog run. If she is an inside dog when you are home, she may do better in a kennel until you are back home again. Our daughter has a vy large mastiff who was constantly breaking free any time she left home and the indoor kennel was what finally worked for Rocko. Hope you find a solution that works for you both. Glad she is home safely now.
Great ideas. The new items we are getting are about as much as can be done---micro chip and GPS device on the collar---so we continue to work with her. Thanks for your ideas and God bless you.
