I see on a lot of sites designs of Foxes, in all shapes and sizes, they seem to be very popular at the moment, it seems very strange to us as they are treated as a pest in aus. (they are not native to here and kill the wild life) I suppose they must be loved in other parts of the world, I think they are cute...wendy

Foxes are introduced and as such are a pest in Australia.
Was awfully shocked to see that our lovely possums are treated as pests in NZ, but then they were introduced there from Australia and are a pest to the indigenous wildlife.
So pests are cute in their home town (country) but not always so where they shouldn't be.
White ducks are cute too, but they are a pest if abandoned in the wild.

This is just a trend, especially in home decoration. I have seen them on an expensive sweater for fall and on pillows everywhere! I guess "they" got tired of some of the previous critter trends, such as hedgehogs and owls. I worry about the little foxes in our woods because I have been told they will kill cats and I have one very precious one who prefers to spend his days mostly outside.

Not to change the subject, but to add to the discussion, what color trends are ya'll noticing for fall/winter besides rust (ugh!)?

They are not that numerous in our area but they are really beautiful. You rarely ever see one. as Martine says they are very cunning and always have been. Foxes are mentioned several times in the Bible so they are ancient,, and have always been known for their slyness. In the book of Luke Jesus himself called king Herod a fox./Lillian

Foxes are good rabbit hunters, but myxomatosis decimated the number of rabbits a couple of years ago so now they feast not only on (wild) pheasants but on chickens as well. So they are considered a nuisance. But they are beautiful, cute and cunning.

Yes they are really popular right now, what with the fox song that came out awhile back. However all animals are food for something, eh? They are cute, I don't think they are as bad as wolves but all have a place in the world. I like wolves too, but if I had outdoor animals I wouldn't want them on my property either. At our walmart they seem to have a woodland thing going on in our merchandise, they have the fox, owl and another animal (I forgot it was) in cookie jars, a little circular tray, and maybe some other ceramic gadgets. They are pretty cute and I think they'll sell well.
I've not seen them where we live now but our last house when we lived closer to the lake saw them pretty often, our neighbor would leave food out for them and my dad used to feed them too. They are definitely pretty and smart little animals.

They are beautiful animals, but when they leave the remains of the nights hunt on my lawn I'm not so happy. Still we like lions and tigers as well, don't we?
