Computer tech tip: There is a bunch of malware infesting the internet as I am sure most of you know. There is one however, that is especially difficult to get rid of and requires a computer technician that is knowledgeable concerning it. The name is Conduit. It takes some serious work to rid a computer of it. The malware will redirect your internet (regardless of the browser you use) if your computer is infected with it. It will show you ads that are actual viruses which will further infect your computer. To remove it, you will have to have the registry edited manually. If your technician is not comfortable with that -- take it someplace else.

In recent months there has been an increase in a special type of advertisement that will infect your computer without you clicking on the ad at all. The source of the ads is supposed to have fixed the issue...but please be careful. If your computer is acting strange it is time to take it in for a checkup. Make sure you have your files backed up prior to doing that though as most places will simply re-install the operating system wiping the drive of all prior data.
Users that frequently download from questionable sites are at a greater risk of issues from malware and viruses.

These ads are definitely content related. When I came on this site just now there was an ad for beauty products. As soon as I clicked on this post up came an ad for PC Cleaner - Free download. I would never click on any of these ads. Maybe we need to stop "talking" about these type of ads. Or maybe remove the posts that mention the word "mal........" off the site and see if that gets rid of them. Just a suggestion. Hugs Marg

The ads have been reported as they are not the "safe" kinds of ads. We could try that...but there are many more posts than this one and that would be a huge undertaking to remove them all.
The thing is, that some conversations (the conversations about the type of cancer that concerns many of us) can happen without the issues of bad ads.
The advertisements for this site should be based on the content the site has not our own comments unless your computer is set up that way. The advertiser has had problems in the recent past and they have been admonished by their parent company as well as the internet as a whole (not just this site -- many sites have issues with this particular advertising group)...but it will happen again.

I am getting this advert every time I come on Cute site. It isn't popping up on any other site.

Thought it was just something new and very annoying.
Was wondering how to get rid of it.

It is usually based off content from the site. Textiles and sewing machines should show up. However, if I turn off the "make my ads relevant" setting, then I get the ad as well. I know it has been showing up for a while now -- so I thought I better post some of the issues.

If you see an advertisement like this one in the picture -- do NOT click on it. The internet does not know if you have the right drivers and an ad will never know if you need an "update" never run an update because the internet tells you to do so. Most computers are set to run important updates automatically.
The ones you see on ads or pop-ups are all phishing scams at the least and possible malware or worse...

Thanks for the heads up. No freebie is worth the risk of infection. I think most of the old timers are sticking to the tried and safe websites.

Seems as if I have heard of this one. How do you know if you have it? Kay

It will usually show up as a search engine (like Google or Bing) in your internet tools under add on's or extensions.
There some other bad ones as well. But if this one is not manually removed from the registry, it will come back.

Thank you so much for the reminder. It is bad enough to get ads at a web site, let alone getting infected for your interest.
