You don't have to live in the deep woods to miss trick or treating with children. I live in a area close to Schools. A Elem.(400+ Students) & High (1000 Students). This year was the lowers it has every been 27 children. Years ago we use to get 200+ and the numbers are going down. Happy Belated Halloween!
i to am in the woods in Northern Ontario what woods are you in my cute friend???
OMG you girls have reminded me of my late teens. We lived in a small community and everything around us was rural. Well, they didn't bring in bus loads of kids but sure were car loads. I remember my dad sitting in the dark under our carport and catching a couple of baddies. And one of the neighbors would sit in the middle of his drive way with a shot gun across his lap. Had forgotten that horrible time. After we married and lived in a big neighborhood I had a ball handing out candy. Run out of candy and always kept a roll or 2 of quarters.
We live out of town so get no trick-or-treaters but keep a small supply of candy on hand just in case one of the "neighbor" kids stop by on their way home. Shortly after my first marriage, we lived in a small town close to the school and would have over 100 kids--those were the days!
We do not get any kids where we live. We are on the outskirts of the town sort of in the country. Houses are too far apart and on a highway. it is probably a good thing we do not have the children ringing our doorbell. It would drive my miniature dachshund crazy and he would be barking constantly there for driving me crazy!!
Husband an I also live in the country. I loved seeing the little kids in their darling little costumes when in town. Halloween was ruined for me when they started busing in the high schools from other towns. Not safe or fun any more.
Go to a party of in town and pass out candy. You will enjoy it Suzanne
So what are you going to do? I am sure you there is something in town? How close is town?
I'm going to bed and dream of days gone by. Too far from town. And don't like to come home late. There's critters out there in the woods. We find footprints and droppings all the time. We snaked the driveway onto the property and parents and kids just don't come in. Which is really good. Hate to see sone hurt by a critter.
It was really fun on Halloween while we lived on military Bases. Halloween is still big and it is fun and safe. I will miss that. We will get a few kids here so we will enjoy that now.
