Ideas please...

For several years I have always made gifts for the teachers and principal. I'm running out of ideas for the principal, she's had towels, knitted scarf, hot pads, bookmarks...
Any other ideas for Christmas, for the end of school I plan on making a tote with the school theme, this will be the last year and my girls are then at the other school.

How about a pretty lace pillow case set? Sachet bags, shoe bags, small travel bags, tote bags .?

This suggestion has nothing to do with embroidery, but my sister has given me many recipes for homemade lotions and homemade vanilla. I'll happily share--my skin is very dry and sensitive, and homemade lotion can be made without fragrance. As a teacher, I wash my hands so many times a day to keep from catching every little germ, and I go through lots of lotion on my hands and my tired feet! PM me if you'd like the recipes and websites we've used.

Right now EmbLibrary has a great design on sale for a tote. It says Reading is my Superpower...but there are quite a few other categories as well....baking, cooking, golf etc.
I plan on making several for our local bazaar and two for friends.
Also, if you know if they like tea or coffee or hot chocolate...you could do a personalized mug rug with a mug of tea bags or drink things.

Everyone I ever taught with who had taught 20 or more years had one of three (or all three) medical issues - back problems, foot problems, and kidney infections. So... how about a travel pillow with school themed fabric pillowcase, name embroidered or not? Nice for the back of those hard, straight chairs at the end of a long day.

I teach too, and have had all 3 of those issues! In fact, the kidney doctor says "teachers and nurses, you're the worst"
microwave able heating pads are always wonderful.

Love the ideas. I used to be a teacher, and I did not care for sweets or toiletries. Cards are nice. Anything else is fine for me. No gift is fine, but I do appreciate thoughtful gifts.

Now I don't work and Lily is at day care and I am also planning on making gifts for the teachers. At the stage of collecting all the names now. I am thinking maybe mug rugs or tote bags with their names.

My thought is to find out each childs first name and emb names and school year on one side and something she/he likes on the other side. Like flower, teapot, etc. Ask the child what she talks about her home. Hope this helps. I am making the Candy Cane wreath for all favorite teachers & bus driver for GrGrans this Christmas. I think it is beautiful and each child can help make it! Hugs, judy

How about some coasters with some teacher related designs on them...Most teachers drink coffee or some kind of liquid and a mug rug would be welcomed, I would think

For Christmas, one of the trees (desk top) that have 2 parts that fit together make it stand up. It can be taken apart to store for the next year.
End of the year, tote bag with class picture on it.

As a teacher who received wonderful (and some not so thoughtful) gifts for 24 years from students, parents and grandparents, I can tell you anything personalized is the best of all! I have asthma, so I always had to give away any lotions or scented gifts :-( which made me sad. I loved the gifts made that told me how special I was! Who doesn't! Anything with my name and Super Teacher I absolutely loved. One parent used a poster I had in my classroom and put it on a painted cigar box for me. I still have that: Pobody's Nerfect - my 3rd graders loved that. How about a zipper pencil bag with her name on it? Or really any zipper bag with her name.... A coffee cup cozy wrap... Any of those really nice designs for teachers who make a difference designs on any bag would be treasured.... Be sure to post whatever you decide to make! "Mrs. Wharton" Jan

One year a sweet girl gave me a used sleazy novel. She said her mom said it was a really good book! LOL

hightechgrammy by hightechgrammy 01 Nov 2014

Also, I always told my students that what I liked best from them for gifts was a letter, written by them, telling me something they learned from me. I did receive some that were precious, heartwarming and rewarding. Whatever you give these teachers and principal this final year, be sure to include a note, including something very specific about how they have helped your grandchildren. They will appreciate that more than anything you make!

Thank you, the note from my girls would be a nice touch :)

Tote bags 12-15 inches are things that I'm asked to make more and sometimes smaller. They like nicknames, initials, a design of one of their favorite things. Surprises like these are fun! They will be wondering what you've made THIS year. :)

how about a sleep (eye) mask to help her rest up for next year, or an infinity scarf because you want them to be a"round" that long (get it?).
I know ... I have a sick sense of humor ;}

Refrigerator Magnets. One year I made a magnet that was like a ruler and said teachers rule. I gave it to my granddaughter who is a teacher. She loved it. The design was from Embroidery Library. They have lots of fun magnets to make.

one year I made a fabric chocolate box and filled it with chocolates. Another year, for fun,, I made a tic ta toe and gave her chocolates wrapped in two different wrappers, her and her partner played the game until all the chocolates were finished.

This is not a sewing idea, but I had a teacher friend who said that she she always looked forward to homemade goodies because she never had time to bake.
Napkins with a monogram are an idea .One year I bought Christmas themed fabric and made fringed napkins for neighbors, etc.You said you had made hotpads; what about a set of coasters?

How about a holder for small packs of tissues? I remember once I made one for my aunt with her name and she cried when I gave it to her. She had no children and I didn't realize until that moment that I was her favorite niece. Oh, if I had known, I would have done more. So much more. She was my second favorite aunt. Lived so far away from us. The favorite lived a mile or so away. Then there are key holder things. Mug rugs are great. Note pad holders. And I love the microwave taker bakers. Do not embroider cause have to use 100% cotton. But they're great gifts.
