I made some felt gingerbread men as ornaments used perforated stabilizer and it removed so easy and clean.
I use the washaway stabilizers and put in a shallow lukewarm water bath leave for 30min place between two towels and use my rolling pin to remove majority of water, then put on dry towel or hang to dry.. works like a charm most times no need to iron.. Marian
I use tear away...the Pellon from Joann's which is fairly cheap when on sale. It feels like paper, but says it's cloth. But it tears away very clean. Don't get that sorta stretchy tearaway with the holes it it. It doesn't tear away as well.
Maybe, if she just washes it and pressed it, it would be OK.. SORRY
I use tearaway but don't finish the edge with a satin stitch...I use a reverse applique that makes it look like quilt binding...any design can be modified to have this type of finishing border if you have digitizing software...
I use cut away and felt and leave an edge outside of the satin stitching.
I also put iron on vinyl over it so it makes it water proof - and people don't worry about spoiling the embroidery (I use Sue's CD coaster). If you want to use WSS then wash it and iron it when you are done.
can you tell me where to buy iron on vinyl? I've never heard of this & it could be something I would use as I do a lot of mug mats. I live in Oz but can purchase on line.
TIA
Irene
Use tear away and felt , leave an edge around the satin stitches and use pinking shears trim. I have also used the washaway stabilizer, I let it soak and then let dry flat, it still looked nice. The white pokies can be covered up use a colored marking pen. Good luck!
I use tear away, but I don't make them with satin stitch edges.
I use cutaway and cut very close to the stitching. It probably won't work for everyone, but it works for me.
