I am lucky enough to have drawer space and just keep each ribbon on it's original roll and any that I buy loose get put on a toile paper roll... Good luck!! Dolly
well done & yes very nice to have drawer space to keep them sorted. Thanks Dolly, ~hugs~
I bag mine by width I find this easier to sort when doing a project...wendy

This looks just like my stash of ribbons which I keep in an old box.
Paper towel rolls work well for me. I can put several colors on a roll, either mix or match colors. I use empty thread spools work well if you don't have a lot of ribbon.
I should mention that all these ribbons are odd sizes because they were given to me a very long time ago. Every project that my family has needed my assistance on whatever was left over was passed over to me since no one else wanted any. except for the roll of Black Phentax I did not purchase anything here. Even got the tub from one of them.
I roll mine on a piece of cardboard.I cut them all the same size and they fit nicely in a box . You can still see all the colors. Suzanne
Thanks Suzanne I started out doing that but there were so many odd sizes that I got tired of doing it that way. As for the colours all I have to do is search for the baggie that I want & the colour will be in it. ~hugs~
Yes, I have done mine up on cardboards the size of the old-fashioned rick rack packaging. Also, if I buy by the reel, I keep it on the reel and re-use it later for other ribbons. You can wind short pieces on thread spools.
I have taken the cardboard roll after all the toilet paper is gone and rolled the ribbon on them, cut off the excess leaving a small area, cut notches in the unused area and fold them back they act as side boards and using a pin fasten the ribbon to itself, then stick them on a dowel rod.
I keep mine sorted by colour neatly folded and held together with elastic. Took me a evening to sort but it has made life much easier. So when I require a specific colour I just grab that box
do you wrap it on card board first? won't the elastic leave a crease too? Do you mean that each colour has it's own box? Sorry I am trying to make sure I get this right so if I change mine I will know what to do....~hugs & Thanks for the help~
Each colour has its own box. So I have a box of reds orange and yellow. The elastic is the cord variety that is used for shirring. I fold the ribbon and the elastic is loose not tight. It has helped as I often make taggie blankets for new babies so I just pull out the blues box and get what is needed. As each ribbon is cut up I quickly re fold and then put the elastic back. It also shows me if I need to buy more of one of the colourways. I am not the tidiest of sewers but this method is working well for me
wow that sounds like a very good & practical way to store your ribbons & you must have quite a supply! Thanks so much for helping me out
