Good morning my dear friend! Well, I'd get stuck into it TODAY! Just say this is the day I'm going to finish that UFO (unfinished object!) and you'll be glad you did. I hate having things left undone - I reckon we should all take a leaf out of Carolyn's book and do at least one thing a day! I know it's not possible for most of us, but at least you've achieved something. I know how much you are looking forward to being with your brother and getting the rest of those Christmas gifts done, enjoy and good luck with it all. I'd charge a fair price - seeing as she is a friend. She will understand how much time, energy and cost is involved. Love ya! Chris
Hi Chris........, I'm almost finished with it. As I lost the scarves and pocket books that I was goin to take and use for gifts since they didn't sell I got messed up both ways but things always work out God has a plan for everything.
This will be the very first Thanksgiving that I will be completly alone. Not feeling sorry for myself just seems strange. Thought about getting a cornish hen and make a little dinner just for me but I'll see how the money goes. Give my love to all and Chris thanks for being so special. Hugs Ronny
the cost of your fabric & materials times 2.5 is a starting point! If you procrastinate long enough you will be way behind so get it over with so you can get on to your favorite things. You will be glad that you did. Best of luck!~hugs~
when I did the hat ribbons for the western wedding I told her right up front that it would be $1.50 per 1000 stitches & that was a discount from the normal price of $2 per 1000 stitches. With a quilt call a local shop (if you have one) & see what they charge to quilt one then @least you would have something to compare prices with
I can so relate to this...one of the reasons I don't sell many things...
I think I saw on facebook where that is called ProCRAFTination. I do exactly the same thing. I have found if I tell myself that i can not do anything else until I spend (X) amount of time on that project every day that I will finally finish it and get it out of my face. Are you embroidering on the lap blanket or is it quilted? That would depend on the price I charge. Figure out your materials and how much time you have in it. (I've discovered most folks feel like our time in creating is about .20 an hour) Not kidding, but we can never seem to get what it is truly worth. Since it's a friend, give her the material cost figure and tell her how long it took you and see what she wants to pay you. It won't be enough, but since she's your friend, consider the rest a gift to her, low expectations yield high satisfaction.
You are in good company. I have had projects I never finished (not many fortunately) and some that took months. I have some hand embroidered items that have taken years..
I'm right with you on the hand embroidering I lost my magnifiers that go over my glasses so there is no telling how the pillow case covers and bible cover will end up But things will get better they have to. Have a great holiday my friend. Enjoy your family Hugs Ronny
Yes I know where you're coming from. What I will be doing from now onward is making it worth my while. I love to do things for friends and family but it can be tedious. I also have things I would much rather be doing. I think we need to Just Do It and move on. I will be charging fairly to cover my costs incl. electricity because it always ends up costing me money and time. If they don't ask me to do anything else well so be it.. Be Strong!!! You are worth it. !!! Love Didi
You're right we all are worth it. Yo, me, Miss Veronica we are all special in our own litttle way, so I'll do the best I can and we well see what they think I'm worth. Thanks fr the pep talk. hugs Ronny
I do the same thing! I can't tell friends "no." & then am overwhelmed with all I have to do! As to the cost...I, too, have a terrible time with that! No once can pay you what it's worth! I'd probably tell her, whatever you want to pay. But I have finally started telling people what I charge for a monogram...and I'm a lot cheaper than anywhere else!!
Thanks that's what I usually do to just ask how much is it worth to you? We will see
Think about how much time it took, and our skill, and then give some discount for friendship!
Oh I willl. I would just like to make quilts or embroidery work and have them come in an buy what I have but it's alright I'm almost done
