Beautiful special work! I love bobbin lace, but I do not have time...
I finished this off last night so I could give this Butterfly to my Girlfriend. She was so excited that she smothered me with kisses. Won't have to wash my face tonight.
Beautiful!!! When I was in Amsterdam, I watched a shop owner making bobbin lace...what a beautiful art!
Very slow unless you are my Lace teacher. She finished a Cross on Friday when I struggled with just part of my butterfly. But when you have been doing it for 50 years you should be able to do it with your eyes closed.
Not sure what bobbin lace is but your butterfly is beautiful. Hugs Suzanna
This is awesome. I doubt that I would have the patients to do it in the original art form. I tried once and gave up.
Lot of work. I love it and so will your friend. Well done. Hugs Shirley
Lyn you are doing a fantastic job. I have always wanted to do this. but had no one who could teach me. Tried to go about teaching myself but gave it up long ago. This is such an old old art form and if it is not kept a live it will one day disappear. Kudos for you/Lillian
My teacher has been doing Lace for possibly 50 years. ahe can see where you have gone wrong and can also tell what you did wrong - stitch wise.
dein Schmetterling ist wunderschön geworden, du kannst stolz auf deine Arbeit sein :-))
Lyn i simply love it Be proud of yourself cause it is awesome hugs Carolyn
Good for you! Several days ago, I came across my bobbins and realized that I cannot get it all done! I also sighed when I unearthed my wooden table-top loom. Your butterfly is a great accomplishment.
Nice job... Aren't all our embroideries worth a lot of money? hehe Suzanne
I'm able to do my own embroideries but when I see that kind of embroidery I tell to myself Wow, I have to lurn more. Really good job
So Awesome...Have never seen it before!!!Love it..Great work
That's a beautiful butterfly, Lyn! I don't know what is involved but love the end result of your hand-made work.
Hugs, Lidia
Oh! Wow! Lyn, this is simply stunning. I know your girlfriend will really love and appreciate it. Love Chris
I was in your Garden tonight watering your Flowers. I saw a few other Cuties there also.
Thanks so much Lyn, I was wondering when I saw the 100,000 come up! i knew I should have been getting it round about this week some time, so a big thankyou. Love Chris
I love it! Like Martine, I haven't touched a bobbin for years but I do still have them all.......
I am going to do another 2 for her but maybe one for her birthday in June and the 3rd for next Christmas as I am slow by making so many mistakes.
Lovely butterfly! The pattern is great, not too many pairs of bobbins and a beautiful result. I admire your patience, it must have taken hours. Since I started digitising I have not touched a bobbin and there is still some unfinished lace hiding in a cupboard - maybe I should set a fixed time each week to finish it. Thank you for showing!
Martine, Only 6 pairs of Bobbins. I have on the go a Tablecloth with 46 pairs of bobbins. Needless to say it is still on the pillow and has been for months.
I thought you started with 4 pairs and wondered how many you had added, 1 pair at the top wing and another just before you did the more open work?
46 pairs - it takes quite a time to do just one row, especially when there are a lot of pins to be set. Can't just do a few minutes here and there, that's serious business! :)
Lovely butterfly. I am sure your girlfriend will be very pleased!
