I make 'holes' in fabric using a wing needle for my crochet edges. This is a nifty idea for fleece.
Thanks TB
Dah! The wing needle is used instead of an ordinary needle in my sewing machine and I use one of the XXX type stitches to sew the holes. ie needle punches in same place 3 times to make the hole.
Just saw this...I had wondered if that would work. Just never tried it. I know my grandmother did many pillowcases with crochet and she had none of the fancy things to make the holes..just never knew how she did it.
I would love to see a pic of this. Great idea. Thanks for the information.
It is an edging like my grandmother had on her pillowcases. I could never figure out how she could do them. From what I have read a person could use a nail to pierce the fabric...sorry I am too lazy to do that.
Thank you for sharing as I have never heard of this blade. Its sounds like an item to add to my wish list. Happy Stitching
I first learned about them when Project Linus was selling them. That was several years ago. I have made many a blanket with them. So easy to use. I always use a double crochet (twice around) for my blankets. Have fun. You will enjoy using this "skip stitch" blade. It is so easy to use.
Thank you for the info. I think while I was surfing the web seeing what was new (and looking for a doggie sweater pattern) I saw Project Linus...I am not sure if that is where I started my search to see what they were talking about. I was thinking about do a shell border but I bet the double crochet would be equally pretty.
Thank you! I also had never heard of tis type of blade...
I bought one not so long ago and now I cannot find the piece of fleece I wanted to put a edge around. Oh well so much for old age. lol
You sound a bit like me..I keep using the 'senior moment' comment to my kids/grand kids but they aren't buying it anymore. The only reason I can't find things is if 'someone borrowed them' or being I have re-arranged things I have to educate myself as to where I put things.
I had never hear of it either so thanks very much for sharing this info.
I had heard of this but I never saw any for sale. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
I thought I was the only one...I know I would see the blankets done up and to me they look so cute.
Check the sites for the blades you need. If you are In USA, JoAnn Fabrics has it.
The fleece will not ravel, the flannel might but the hole is so small that it should be OK anyway. It is a great tool! Just be careful not to press too hard on an angle as the"teeth" are not a strong as a regular blade.
Thank You...ordered it from Amazon last night..looking forward to using it...I was concerned about using it...your advice is helpful.
