Thanks for all the info Ladies. Think I will try some organ needles. Hugs. Nan W
My sister's machine is a Designer1 from Husqvarna, and I have a Brother 270SE and a Babylock Ellegante, plus Singer sewing machines, and all use Organ needles easily.
We all seem to run across the idea that the needles are differently sized. A few theories-some dealers want you to use what they sell, so they tell you to only use those. (They do this a lot with the thread they sell) Embroidery needles do have a longer/larger eye to let the thread flow more easily, so that can be misconstrued to think the needle itself is longer. And why would a company exclude itself from an entire industry (embroidery)?
Look and read at the Organ needles site, and visit the superior threads site for lots of info.
I have a Husqvarna-Viking Topaz 30 home sewing/embroidery machine. I have been using Organ titanium-coated, flat shank, larger eye, sharp embroidery needles #11 and 12 in boxes of 100 for the last two years and couldn't be happier. I had used other brands like Schmets, and Klasse but they don't last as long as the Organ titanium-coated. I bought them online from AllBrands.com, they are in Louisiana, USA. Even adding the shipping from overseas, they were a good buy. I will purchase the same Organ needles again.
Hugs, Lidia
I prefer titanium needles from Superior Threads. The eye of the needle is longer than most but not the needle itself. They are made by Organ. I used to use schmetz but tried these and love them! Rarely do they break and they last much longer than regular needles.

I only use Schmetz needles and I have a Husqvarna Viking Designer 1.
I have used mostly Madeira and Schmetz needles, they are more easily available here than Organ.
For my 4-needle I got Schmetz and Organ round shank needles when I bought the machine.
I can't get bulk packs here and ordering them from an American firm makes no sense as postage and import duties makes them more expensive them buying smaller packages here.
Thanks for the question. I had asked my local habby shop the same thing on Saturday. Smetz needles were his suggested type. I do not know if we can get any other good makes here in SA, and certainly not in boxes of 100, that I know of!! Smetz is very expensive.here too.
I've read that organ embroidery needles should not be used in regular sewing machines and other places say it is ok to do. So I'd be safe and ask the whoever sells your brand of machine to see what they say.
I have a HV machine and use Organ needles without problems. Favorite sizes are 75/11 and 80/12 in both sharp and round point (depending upon the fabric) but also have available sizes 70/10 through 110/18 for all sewing needs.
I usually buy Organ and have sizes 70, 80 and 90 usually bought in boxes of 100
I have the Janome 12000 and use Organ needles only. Mostly use size 11 sharp and 14 when I do quilting on the machine. I do use ballpoint size 11 on t-shirts. I do like the titanium, they last a little longer as I usually change needle every eight hours. I can use titanium 2-3 times longer. Try one and see how your machine likes it or check with your dealer. Maybe someone here that has your machine will know for sure. Hugs....Carol
Also, is titanium really better then regular? Hugs. Nan
Depends upon how you think...Titanium is suppose to last longer...but they are more expensive...so, if you prefer to change out your needles more regularly, get the regular ones and they are less money...decisions, decisions...
