Singer is not singer anymore, several years ago they sold out to another brand (can't remember which) but since then to me, their quality is not as good as it was way back. I learned how to sew on an old pedal machine (singer) and have had several thru the years, and was always happy with them, true work horses, but, times have changed, to me, not heavy duty as they were...i would avoid singer!!!
My grandmother had one of those,I have one,a really black beauty ,but I never it because is so precious to me; memories of my early childhood.
Thanks
I, too, would pass on the Singer. Their reputation has not been sustained and I've heard a friend rant re two of them she has owned.
if you really want to know about the singer futura then go to the group and read all the posts on it. then decide after you see what the most of the posts are about.
Personally i would not buy one but you need to make your own mind up but i suggest you do what i have adviced above
Don't buy a Singer. If you are near a dealer see what pre loved machines that they have. There are a lot of traded in machines at the moment and usually the dealer knows their history. Both my machines were used and came with a warranty. (One was the dealers demo machine) Let us know what you decide to do but avoid the Singer
I agree with rescuer. Do as much research as you can on the machines the dealers around you are selling and then test stitch all of the machines that interest you. Dealers offer classes (usually free) so you get to know your machine and have tech support if your machine needs servicing or when it needs to be cleaned. There will continue to be sales so don't be in a hurry to jump to get a machine.
Also, what is brand locally serviced in your area by a repairman whose work people like. There are probably 17 brands available within 40 miles of me, but only two brands that come with the good repairman and free classes for as long as it takes to understand the machine. (Plus, they offer 10% off on notions, fabric and threads for being their machine customer, FOREVER.) Anyone near Alabama, PM me and I'll PM you my favorite shop.
Where is Alabama? Our dealer is ##### things a lady won't say. I tried to PM but could not figure how.
You would be better off going to a local dealer that offers support and repairs. Get a used machine with the hoops you want and a warranty -- mine was 90 days. I have had not trouble with mine. I got a used Babylock Esante.
I will try to follow your advice and won't be like the teenagers,go out with a pretty bad boys!
Thanks
Well, sorry to say...I would not buy a Singer...too many problems...not enough support...save your money a bit longer...
I have had 3 Futuras, all 3 were lemons. the last one got shipped back . I would say "NO"
