There are so many smart computer savy Cuties out there so I am hoping someone can help me. I have an older Brother machine that requires me to use PED-Basic to transfer my designs from my computer to my machine. When I bought it I was using Windows XP, then I got Windows Vista and the program still worked with that. Now I downloaded the program to Windows 7 and the program is on my computer but it will not copy the design to the card. I get a message that tells me that no card writer is connected. Is there an update available for this software that would allow me to use this with Windows 7? I don't know how to contact Brother about this because they ask for a model # and the problem is not with my sewing machine but with the software on my computer.

I knew I could count on my fellow Cuties for an answer. Using the information you kindly shared here I was able to make it work and my knowledge of computers is minimal at best. Best part of all is that it didn't cost me a penny. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah! So glad to have been able to help. I got this to use with a Brother 270SE I was given, and am glad that my old Babylock Ellageo used it, and my now Ellegante also can use it.

Have you used the cd or dl from Brother? They have been saying for quite a while to dl from the Brother site

uninstall PEDBasic from your computer.

Go to :
Brother-usa.com
support
enter model # 270SE + select home sewing and embroidery
At select a model, scroll down to PEDBASIC
click on PEDbasic update
Choose your system--win7
There you will find FullDriver & software package Ver1.07

You can also find the manual and FAQ's from that page on the left.

Jo --I can still use the card in my Babylock Ellegante,and do.

Basic is up to 1.07--you can d/l the update at the Brother Support/downloads site. Your prob might be the Win7. The Basic will only work on Win7 with 32bit processor---is not compatible with 64bit.
When you go to the Brother site and are asked to choose the model #...in the ''choose home machine", just scroll down the list until you get to the softwares. Follow instructions.

There may be software for your emboidery machine's Ped Basic. I would call Brother first. They have contact numbers on their website and have always been very helpful whenever I have called them. Give it a try first!!! Good luck!
