Nikolausabend in Germany. All children put their boots

out and hope Nikolaus will fill them with treats, chocolates,
fruits and nuts
(Maybe some even are hoping for mobile phones and things like that)
But children with bad behaviour might only see Knecht
Ruprecht :-)
What are your traditions?

Also in Germany when I was little St. Nikolaus was dressed in the bishops outfit and his helper was dressed like Santa Claus.
I still celebrate with my family Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day.

That sounds fun - and then you have presents again on Christmas Eve!
We only have one presents day - and that is Christmas Day. Traditionally children hang up a stocking on Christmas Eve and then try to get to sleep so Father Christmas can creep in and fill it. Sadly now, commercialism means that a stocking would be woefully inadequate!

We leave out cookies and milk for Santa Claus (St. Nicholas). He comes down the chimney and leaves gifts for good little children.
