What rotten luck.I have never made nothing at a market ,made the rent plus $10 in the middle of winter when it was raining all the time though the market was indoors or under cover.Hope you have better luck this weekend.I have a feeling that the market I am going to this Saturday might be a bit of a dud with people going to the shopping centres instead the markets. My stall is inside a air conditioned hall opposite the cafe tables ,so I have a captive audience ,so to speak.
The market run by the lions club doesn't collect the rent until after 10am which means if the weather turns nasty & is a washout ,you don't pay or it is half price .
Looks as though it is going to be 25C and partly cloudy at the Market but that doesn't mean that people are going to buy.
I realize how frustrating it is to prepare for a sale and nothing comes out of it. But, next weekend you will have plenty of items on hand and since it is closer to Christmas maybe people will pick up some last minute gift items from you. Don't let it get you down, if nothing else, you sew for yourself because you are gifted and talented. Sometimes, taking a few items to a retirement home, children's hospital, etc and handing them out will help you feel better just seeing the faces of joy of those receiving your wonderful works.
Thank you. I am not expecting much. At least with the other stall holders we had a few laughs.
Dear Lynn, I know how you feel. I tried Market once, and I didn't sell anything. I hope your next will be great. Sending my positive thoughts and prayers. Love, Yoriko
Thank You Yoriko. My last one at the same venue was really great so can only blame the weather.
Will sent positive thoughts to all potential customers telling them to buy.. I do hope you have the success you deserve to have.. Marian
Thanks a lot Marian. Enjoyed the company of other stall holders who really didn't sell much either.
I find you can never tell what it will be like, we had a good day yesterday at Corowa nsw, didnt rain till we were packing up, we have had a site there for 18yrs, the week before at benalla vic we had our worst this year ,but it is usually good, so you never know...wendy
I find that September and October are my best Months. Forget the December Markets which surprises me.
hi, so sorry to read about your dismal day.next week will be better. closer to christmas. i know how you feel. many, many, many years ago i used to sell avon and then it was tupperware. it does give you a chance to talk with the other people there. better day next week.
I find the markets in December as not usually very good. Think people have already bought Christmas presents.
Prayers for better weather, a great crowd and lots of sales.
So sorry Lynn, I really think the weather at the moment is atrocious, hope next week is better. Love Chris
I used to do Markets also. I found when I had a permanent site at a particular market sales fell off. I couldn't understand why until I heard a woman tell the young woman she was with " Oh this one is here every week so you don't have to get it today"
From then on I changed my location and did different Markets. The weather has a lot to do with sales as well.
Hope next weekend goes better for you.
