Good afternoon Cuties...Today is my daughter's Birthday...So I baked her a cake...white ....cut it into half and put vanilla pudding & whipped in whipped cream topping...ahhhh, good so far....now the frosting...My favorite show lately is "Cutthroat Kitchen..a must see...anyway they were making frosting with egg whites and powdered sugar. So i thought i would try....I guess i wasn't paying close attention because that was a form of icing....ok now what to do...I had some white fluffed icing in a can so i mixed that in...well i had bought cream cheese frosting so i mixed 3/4 can of that it...would you believe it turned out to be a frosting to die for....SOOOO GOOD.....One of the very best frosting's I have ever made..It was fluffy but dense enough to hold the pudding mixture from flowing over...I have been eating the cake that I had to cut off to make it flat...spread that frosting thickly on it..oh what bliss...now as soon as i can i will put the blue and white sugar flowers on it....I will have to remember how i made that frosting...unfortuantly if i write it down, i will loose it like i do every other thing else....

Some of us are made from the same cookie cutter! Me too! Now I have a recipe file on my computer. I hope this works to find what I am looking for. I love the idea of fluffing up canned frosting. I am gong to try 2 things. 1 egg whites, the other cool whip frosting. Whipped frosting here is made with cool whip and a lard based frosting.

I have to tell you all a very funny story involving Cake Mixes. Many many years ago, when cake mixes first appeared in stores, my Grandmother decided to buy one to try out. One afternoon my Grandfather came home to find Grandma in the kitchen with a mixing bowl and in the bowl was the cake mix. She had her hands in the bowl mixing up the batter...my Grandpa asked her what she was doing and she said making a cake. He said "what with your hands in the bowl?" She handed him the box and said...read the instructions....it says to mix by hand...so she literally was mixing it with her hands.
PS: She got a new hand mixer soon after this...
Hugs.

Thanks for sharing this...I just gained 5 pounds reading the recipe! Next time take all the calories, fat and goodness out of it....oh wait, then it won't be any good. Scratch that! Happy birthday to the young lady!

Oh! I did bake cakes years ago and I quit as had no one to eat them. I made them all from scratch and then I found my first "Cake Doctor Cookbook" which starts with a mix and becomes something wonderful with her additions. If you ever see one, snatch it up. The author is Anne Bryn. I have 4 , but don't know if there are more. The author has quite a history with southern traditions as " Food Editors" with several news papers. Kay

1. You just wrote it down here, so look at your entries next time you need the recipe.

2. For a change, try filling cake with lemon pudding mixed with the whipped cream. Yum, too.

If you like Lemon, try cutting two layer cake in half (now 4 layers of cake) and put lemon pudding in between each layer, then ice it completely in whipped cream. So refreshing. My favourite cake.
