HAS anyone ever embroidered on a inexpensive grocery store bag? The kind that sort of looks like interface but thicker? If so what if any stabilizer did you use. I just was thinking to add a name to a bag................

Hi Lor...see you got your answer...only problem is that they disintegrate after time...I have had some fall apart after about a year or so...

I was able to correct my booboo with the zigzag stitches @ the bottom. Thank you all for your help with this & I am definitely going to make a few more. they look so much nicer with the design on them! ~hugs for all~

They are super easy to embroider on with just a plain tear away stabilizer. When I put my mother in law in assisted living, I turned some bags inside out, and embroidered my own messages on them, such as "laundry to be picked up", her name on a small one for her walker, etc. I even added applique. The bags have been through dozens of washings, and are as good as the day I stitched them out. Have fun!!

OH I thought they might not stand up to a washing but thank you so much for letting me know, that is great news. A good idea to turn them inside out to hide the store names too I may have to try that too! ~hugs~

the blk one I posted--I looked it over and I think it once held the monitor for desktop (back in 2006)..it is stamped "HP ecosolutions" in the green dots on the side. The tag inside says 'do not wash, dry, or iron'. It has served well for shopping, so far!

They are easy to do and I used tear away. I've done many of them.

I did and it worked great. I did Trick or Treat bags for all my Little ones and then some/ I didn't have time to make the whole bag for all, so I covered the advertising with Halloween material and put Halloween fonts on to spell names. as I used all different fonts, It took a while to figure out the names, so strangers would not know names of Lil ones. I used Cut away stabilizer. Hugs, Judy

Yes, I did Something came in a blk bag like this and I put shopping carts on it. I think it was the beginning of many home-made bags with cute designs on. In the trunk of both cars must be a total of 10 or 12 bags (our grocery is "green", so we furnish our own bags. I had not problems embroidering with med weight stabilizer. It was a fun project that was addictive. I've made bags for good friends who shop at the same store.
