It is also pretty on felt. I've done many felt bookmarks using cross stitch.
The scissors case (free from EMS cross stitch) is on twill just cause it'll have scissors in it. The mug mats (all free designs without text, I added that) are on osnaburg (cotton) hooped on thin batting (aka warm n natural) on stabilizer. Main thing is to trim jump stitches after each color - my machine doesn't automatically trim and cross stitch has more jump stitches. It does want some stabilize to keep it's shape through washing, no more than any other medium to dense embroidery design. The angel from Sudbury stitches about 3plus times for each stitch and is very dense, whereas as the Santa from ABE stitches once and the embroidery goes very fast. Tatiana's Noel also went pretty fast.
Thanks for the pictures and advice. After seeing these great designs I can't wait to try some cross stitch designs out. Great job. Hope mine comes out this good.
You can do machine cross stitch on any fabric. I am enclosing a rooster done on a tea towel.
I usually do it on a fine linen, but I've also stitched them on towels.
Thanks. From the look of your pictures it all most look like you did these by hand. Can't wait to get started.
I love the patterns on the red aida cloth. Can u tell me where u got those patterns? Thanks in advance!
