good luck, take a picture of it and post so we can all drool and not gain weight/Lillian
I have a granddaughter who loves Nutella and she inherited her mother's baking skills so I am going to copy this recipe for her and suggest she bring it for Christmas. Then I can taste it without having to make it. Baking was not a gene that they got from me, it came from my mother in law who was a fantastic cook and baker.
Hope it turns out well or I will be in trouble. I am going to make it in a rectangular tin then with cream and cherries, white and milk chocolate swirls on top. Then it can be cut easier. At least that is what I am hoping to do.
Feel your pain, went shopping with hubby this morning only needed a few things $170 later we left the supermarket and headed to the butcher needless to say a very expensive day.. thanks for the recipe Marian
These places always put the tempting things in the way so you fall over them and naturally you give in and buy.
I know your pain. I am going to the grocery store just to get milk and rarely leave the store with only that. Love cheese cake and Nutella, so I am convinced it will be delicious.
Wow! You and I could never go shopping together.
I shop like you. I've even went with a shopping list and still came out with so many things not on the list.
The recipe looks good I believe I might have to try this one. Sounds rich in many ways.
Do you often forget your list as well. Get home and check that I have bought everything.
Lynn . Enjoy the cheescake. Make sure you get a big piece. I shopped yesterday so i also wont be going anywhere near the shops. I have enough to see my DH and 5 grands with their mum & dad till the new year...
Money doesn't go far these days, and groceries are the living proof of that. Hope it tastes delish!
WOW -what more can one say? I hope you have enough quantity of all of the ingredients to keep you going for at least a month :)
Have a feeling that there will be some of each ingredient left over. Having Ladies here in January so might save some of the other goodies until then.
Yeah Lynn, I hear ya! Costly making things for Christmas, but aren't you glad it's only once a year? I can't stand Nutella, so it would be no good in our household. Amy's going to make a stunning Pavlova! Can't wait till all the family arrives. We have a local shopping centre about a 10 minute drive away and yesterday it was already full by 10.00! I'm not venturing out anywhere next week! Hope the cheesecake turns out for you. Love Chris
I'm with you Chris. I had the same experience in Lismore on Thursday - absolutely chaotic. I went to the dentist in our local(Alstonville) shopping plaza yesterday and was lucky to find a car space. It is hard to believe that the Australian economy is in as bad a state as we are constantly being told.
To tell you honestly I have never tasted Nutella so just hope it turns out OK.
I love cheese cake i have a whole book of them .I must look this one up hugs Carolyn
Wow, hope it's as Yummy as it's price tag!
Not all the $72 spent on the cheesecake but other things that I thought might go well over Christmas.
Sounds interesting. Being diabetic everything sweet sound delicious to me. On Christmas day I just forget the diet and eat what I like. This cheesecake sounds great, any chance you will put the recipe up on here!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs Marg.
Marg, Have you heard of "The Whoot". Lots of yummy recipes on there. This is where it came from. http://thewhoot.com.au/ Lots of other crafts on there as well.
Nutella Cheesecake
Makes 1 cake | Prep Time: 20 mins | Bake Time: None (refrigerate for at least 4 hours)
Recipe Source: Nigella Lawson
Contributor: CP Choong
Ingredients:
10 oz (280 g) graham crackers (digestive biscuits)
5 tablespoons soft unsalted butter
1 13-oz jar Nutella (at room temperature)
¾ cup chopped toasted hazelnuts
1 lb (450 g) cream cheese (at room temperature)
½ cup confectioners’ sugar (sifted)
Method:
Break the graham crackers (digestives) into the bowl of a processor, add the butter and 15 ml or 1 tablespoon of Nutella, and blitz until it starts to clump. Add 25g/3 tablespoons of the hazelnuts and continue to pulse until you have a damp, sandy mixture.
Tip into a 23 cm/9-inch round springform and press into the base either using your hands or the back of a spoon. Place in the fridge to chill.
Beat the cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar until smooth and then add the remaining Nutella to the cream cheese mixture, and continue beating until combined.
Take the springform out of the fridge and carefully smooth the Nutella mixture over the base. Scatter the remaining chopped hazelnuts on top to cover and place the tin in the fridge for at least four hours or overnight. Serve straight from the fridge for best results.
A gold plated cheesecake by the sounds of it. its so easy to go shopping and find extras.
There will probably be 10 of us and a 3 year old. I am hoping to bring a large piece home so I can devour it in piece.
