Can someone please tell me how do I make labels to go on the things I make, someone told me I should put labels on things to say who and where the items were made? I am only new to machine embroidery, I have 6D software and trying to work out how to use it, at the moment I think I wasted my $3000 buying it

Thankyou for your encouragement, I WILL keep going with the machine embroidery, I have wanted one of these machine all my life but haven't been able to afford one, my husband bought me the hus vicking diamond royal, plus the 6D software, a lot to learn, now I see I wont learn in 5 minutes, am feeling better now about my abilities, I will take your advice and keep following the cuties and eventually will get the knack. once again thank you your all a great source of encouragement.

Just my opinion, but I think labels would spoil most items. I have only labelled quilts in all of the hundreds of things I have made. Do what you do well, as asterixsew says below, and enjoy it!

I thought that putting a label on everything would spoil, I have looked at your items a lot, and have not seen any labels, as well as other cuties they don't seem to label, thought maybe you all sneek a little initial somewhere on your work, but couldn't see anything, thanks for your opinion, I treasure your comments.

Trish I have just been though all your postings. You have not had your embroidery machine long and you have already created some great work that you have shown us. Machine embroidery is great fun a steep learning curve for many who have not used computers much and not without its frustrations and huge highs from when all goes well. You tube often is helpful. Like many here I don't know many about me with embroidery machines and most of what I do I self taught by trial and error. If you can work out how to do labels at the moment do otherwise just keep sewing out great work and enjoying yourself. At some time you will sort out how to do labels then you can make them and add them to work already sewn out that you are enjoying using. No you have not wasted your money but it will probably take time to sort it out to your satisfaction. Just keep on showing us the great work that you are doing and take part here.

I concur with asterixsew. I've had my machine 5 years and my software for design about 4. I haven't worked out or even thought about labels! Take one learning curve at a time. This year I finally got around to free standing lace, which i love to stitch out my way, with lots of designs pulled into one big hoop. I first got good at 4 x 4 machine designs, then got nervy and tried some 5 x 7's. After that was a monogramming program so I could do initials, names and text. Then I learned to do appliques, but only did them on days that I was really pulled together, and usually just one or two, then back to regular design. Learned to combine text and pictures, and learned to resize and combine designs. There are so many things to learn. I thought I pretty much knew it all after about 2 years, but when I look back now, I've come light years since then, learning about color, placement, design, balance and so much more. It is a whole new world of fun. I have pulled what I know from gardening and interior design INTO embroidery, also what I knew from hand embroidery and tailoring (very little on tailoring). Stay the course and you'll fall in love with embroidery.

Thanks for your words, I have been having one of those downers with my work, on the machine nothing was working, my husband paid a lot of money for this machine and I was having trouble doing the things that I wanted, I now see that I must be more patient with myself and give myself time, I have black hole moments and embroidery and sewing brings me home. Thanks for your help.

I have the 6D also and lettering is about all I do although they tell me it can do wonderful things!
I think the best thing for you to try is open your 6D and look under Guides. When that opens click on User and all the instructions for the different things will be there, just click on the one you want to try.
Good luck

The people that my husband bought the software from said they would give me lessons on how to work it, but they are 4hrs drive from where I live (that is the closest place) so a couple of hrs learning and then 4hrs return home, a long time, I will do as you have suggested and take it slow, many thanks, I appreciate your input

Trish make a list of what you want to learn and one day go and have lessons on what you want to learn. I work on the need to know principal and its working fine. I am not a start at page 1 and work through type learner. We all learn in different ways so what works for one is not the ideal way for the next.
