Is my dog a canine genius or just badly behaved?

Today we went to see my sister to take her Christmas presents. We brought a carrier bag back with us with three parcels, one for me, one for Mike and one for Meg. All nicely wrapped and clearly labelled.
Mike brought the bag in and left it on the kitchen floor while he gathered some other things together which needed to go in the car and I went to hang my coat up. When we went back to the kitchen we found Meg surrounded by various bits packaging and proudly squeaking her new toy. Our parcels were untouched.

I always thought she could read (she read the Book of the Border Collie when she was a puppy and decided to be a non-conformist!)

Smart is the answer. He could smell that perfect gift and decided you were not going to receive it. It was his.

A badly behaved dog would not have opened just their present but opened all of them. May always knows where the tennis balls are in the house and will sit for ages waiting for draws to be opened for her. I will have forgotten since her last visit where her toys are but she knows and shows us. But Meg is a great dog. Now when are you going to teach her to use your embroidery machine?

What a clever pooch. Bella used to love Christmas morning as we always had presents for her - you can see the excitement in their faces, it's almost human sometimes. Love Chris

Good nose for rubber?

You are probably right! Her nose is a rubber magnet. She regularly sniffs out invisible rubber items from dense undergrowth.
