For those of you with naughty embroidery machines... Mine HAD to go in the shop right before Christmas and while I was trying to finish a major project. I was very sad and missed it terribly! It had been behaving badly for quite some time...

Now that I have it back -- it is working beautifully! I even left it at home stitching (one color design had 20,000 stitches left) while I went to the store. I came home and it had finished without issues. My children were home in the event of a catastrophe...but all went well.
If your machine is behaving badly, maybe it is past time for yours to be serviced as well.
I am very happy to hear my Babylock humming again.
Wishing a happy New Year to all my Cute friends and their faithful machines!

Must look after our babies that keep us feeling good.
I have made an appointment in the Budgeting program that I use to REMIND me to make a day to take mine in for servicing.
I do the same for haircuts as I tend to put them off too.

That is a good idea except this year it didn't work for me. I have made more multiples of the same item this year than before. My current project has more than 375,000 stitches for one quilt and there are 6 of them. I am already over 500,000 stitches.

My budget is flexible and willing to be changed when needed. Just like me when I am stitching sometimes. :-)
My stitch count is low at present as I moved house and didn't have the machines set up, making up for it now.

Mine decided to lock up two days before Thanksgiving. Also in the middle of a major project. the dealer went through it and I test ran it before bringing it home. good thing I did. about 50 stitches into test it locked up again. so in total was gone about 2 weeks. I was miserable. thankfully wasn't anything major.

Thankfully, my dealer always does a few test stitch-outs before it is "ready" to come home.

Glad you have it back now. Mine is having no problems with embroidery but has issues with reg sewing. the feed dogs will not come up. Luckily i have several reg sewing machines.
Talked to my dealer just before Christmas and he said I could keep emb. but not to try and sew 'till I brought it in. Luckily that's what I did. Now I'll have to take it in but really do not want to as long as it is embroidering without problems. LOL Don't want to stop long enough to take it in/Lillian

I never like being without my machine. I am glad you have options for regular sewing. Since I have another Babylock just for sewing and quilting -- I too would struggle taking it in since it is doing the most important thing -- embroidery! ;)

Thank you. I do try to schedule my machine spa days...I just didn't realize I had put that many stitches on her this time. I guess I will have to check that stitch count more often.

So, if I'm all out of sorts, maybe that's the early warning that the machine is about to need servicing?

Well...I don't know if you are out of sorts...if sending your machine away will help or not. Sending my machine away for weeks made my "out of sorts" much worse. ;)

Wow! 7 million stitches...that is quite a lot! What machine do you have?

stock by stock 29 Dec 2014

brother 780 and 700 just emb. machines

Patricia103 by Patricia103 29 Dec 2014

Wendy, I have the 780D - you must do a lot of stitching to use 2 machines.
My service man would be impressed with you too.
The first time I took mine in he asked me if I did a lot of embroidery. Answer - YES. Apparently a lot of people buy them, but don't use them much. They obviously haven't caught the 'bug'!!

with having a market stall I never stop sewing, the only thing I sell not embroidered is the Barbie tent...wendy

I'm glad your baby is home and working perfectly. I am careful to bring my machines in once a year at least for a thorough cleaning and any repairs. I really hate to wait until my machines have tantrums. Gotta love our Babylock machines.

I do take mine in every year but I had way too many stitches this time around. I think more than 2,000,000 stitches in one year is a lot!

I'm still waiting, but I'm glad yours is home safe and sound. Man if I'd have left mine...still stitching! I'd have had heart failure. I can only imagine which part of the room the pieces would be in. :P

It was not any easier than leaving my children home alone the first time after they're "old enough" if you know what I mean.
Definitely nerve racking!

Do you have single needle or multiple needle machine? I even have some naughty rayon thread spools that I would not leave unattended. Kay

A single needle -- until my "ship comes in" and when it does -- I will have both. ;)

Glad that your machine is humming along. I am amazed that you did not run out of bobbin thread with 20,000 stitches or have you taught your children how to switch it out? Now you can continue with "I love my machine, I love my machine...." :)

The pre-wound bobbins go much longer than that for me. I guess I am spoiled. ;)

crafter2243 by crafter2243 26 Dec 2014

You are right. The pre-wounds will last a long time.
