Just like your mum's name isn't Polly, but Pauline.
Polly is MY special nickname for her as the first thing she'd say when she visited me was: well, come on, put the kettle on. LOL!!!
Ray's Mum picked up on it and being nearly deaf, Pauline became Polly, "Polly put the kettle on" :-)
