Lyn Praying for god to keep you and your safe. Hope you are getting the rain you hoped for/Lillian
o dear , good luck . xx it is very sad time for people, may you be safe.
Hugs pam.
Best of luck with the fires now and in the future. I was in Victoria in the 1980s fires, so know your situation.
I also have too much stuff. Keep collecting the requirements for this project or that project, but then don't have the time to do the project. So it just all turns into 'stuff in the way'.
Don't forget your reading glasses or put a spare set in that half packed car.
Stay safe Lyn. I have been watching on the news items.
Hope fire threat eases soon. Stay safe. We are all thinking of you and hope our prayers are answered soon. Gai NSW
Just stay safe all us Aussies are thinking and praying for you, you can replace things but not your self's, L Sherene X QLD
I hope by now the situation is under control for you. You got enough advise what to do, hopefully you do not to really do it. I just hear on the tv that there will be rain soon ? Hope for you. Prayers send
I am glad you are safe...How horrible to lose everything you have THose poor people who lost their homes. Prayers coming your way and for all the other people too. You life is the most important. Keep safe... Suzanne
I would not know where to even start thinking about what to take let alone actually gather those items together. You are so very right when you speak of valued items rather than valuable items. My heart goes out to you all.
It is hard to try and remember everything you need to take in cases like this. If you have a reprieve wright a list of the things you can think of. I keep a storage box on wheels with things most precious, not that we need to evacuate here in Sydney but you never know the day you become to relaxed is the day you need to be ready. Hope all the cuties in S.A and Vic stay safe from harms way and the rains arrive minus any lightning.. Marian
Our Prayers are with you at this difficult Time,Hugs Ursula
we had a "leave now warning" on the ABC last week, it's very frightening, and that is what we said what to take,of course I would want all machines and comp. medications, scripts, its very hard, our warnings past this time...... everyone in our small town went to the fire station to see what was happening, we were told if we had to get out the police would go door to door...scary...wendy
no in country vic, hope your still ok fires still burning, and very hot...wendy
Do you still have your little camper? if so pack it full .By all means put food and what you consider your most valuable possessions. Hope the fires do not get to you. I will pray for you! Kay
Kay You must have me confused with someone else as I have never had a Camper, but gee if I did it would be packed. I have so many Valued possessions. Cottons Cross Stitch patterns and full set of DMC and just soft much craft stuff. My car can hold only so much.
I guess dementia is kicking in! Sorry. Just choose the irreplaceable. I know that is hard to do. Kay
My heart aches for you Lynn, I know exactly where you are and as I'm an ex South Australian I can empathise with all you are going through. The fires seem to be getting worse each year, don't they? I've got Channel Nine news on here at the moment and they've shown that 26 homes have been destroyed and 29 people injured - Jay Wetherill (Premier) has just spoken all about it. I, along with the others on here, are praying that you receive some well deserved rain. I see Victoria woke up to it yesterday and whilst on my bike ride this morning it rained. I loved it and didn't mind getting wet. It's still very humid here though and I'm praying we get more rain to cool things down. I hope you can have your clean out soon. I think we all are guilty of that! Love Chris
Chris you would know that the rain at this time of the year comes from the NW of WA and always seems to miss poor old SA or just reaches the Northern Suburbs. Hope all of us in SA get this rain they are talking about.
Praying for your home and safety...hoping you don't have to evacuate...
So far Things are not so desperate but with this scare I will be more organised if it happens again.
You have received enough advise about what to take. I just want to let you know that I am praying that you stay save.
Years ago I first lived as an adult in an apartment with an arsonist, who set the building on fire three times. (After the second I began to pack to move , but he was quick to strike again.) You quickly get your priorities in order. I slept with a stack by my bed - the wedding photo album, the sterling flatware box, purse, car keys.
This fright has given me a second chance to think straight. If it ever happens again I will be more organised.
Photos, important papers and animals if i can get them in the car. Would hate to lose everything else but they can be replaced.
I realised I would have left My Late DH's ashes behind. If I had and had lost the house at least he would still be in the house that he loved. Will take them with me if I have to go next time.
Your probably already have this stuff, but even more important then the emb stuff is personal information, tax info, birth certificates, wedding license, photos, papers proving you own your home, receipts of last bills paid. It's a real nightmare collecting some of this info. Will pray you remain safe and for the rest of the people who have lost everything and firefighters. Please Lord send down your merciful rains to quench the earth and quell the fires. Amen
Thank You. Yes I have all of those personal papers on a folder and that was one of the first things that I packed. Poor old always seems to miss out on the rain in Summer. South Australia
So thankful that you are not in danger. The news reports, photos and live coverage have shown the terrifying destruction of the brush fires. Praying for everyone, especially those who have lost loved ones, homes, and animals.
So many animals have perished. Domestic and Live stock plus wildlife I suspect. Thankfully no lives lost but a few Firefighters injured.
I hope all is well with you and that they get the fires out. I think poor Australia has had more then its fare shares of fires lately.
Can expect some idiot will go out and use machinery or light fires when the temps are high and it is windy.
Praying for rain! I'd hate to have to pack up in a hurry! But if I did have to, sewing machines, computer, flash & external drives, photos and the quilts my mama made!! Hope you don't have to evacuate.
I hadn't packed my computer but had downloaded everything on to other places to save. I realised after the threat was over for me that I hadn't packed the power cord for my machine.
I have been aware via the UK news that there are very severe fires in the Adelaide Hills, Australia and was hoping that no one from here was affected. I know I have 35 years of accumulation of stuff in out house that has to be sorted and thinned down. How one decides in a hurry what to take and what to leave must be very difficult. I am glad to hear you are OK but so sorry about the situation. Thinking of you dear
I now know it is time to throw things out, but that is a Winter job, Amazing what you collect and in my case 29 years.
