This has nothing to do with sewing-embroidery but, has anyone really gotten into the "Alice in Wonderland" movie? A friend wants me to put on a Mad Hatter Tea Party..I have about 4 weeks to get this thing off and running...My mind is pretty blank...Do you have any great suggestions that can be done on a budget.

The teachers at school had a teaparty and ea. chose a character from alice to dress up as. Some of the men came as cards. took poster paper made 2 giant cards, hinged them at the shoulders and wore them. I think it's a great theme/Lillian

Yeah! i found a wonderful 3' high door in its door jam...I am going to have my husband make stands to freely hold up. Paint it like the door in Alice in Wonderland. Paint the door knob to look like that also and let the kids enter the room through that.

My grand daughter had one for her 13th birthday...it was great. All drank out of mismatched teacups. I think my daughter got a lot of her ideas from online. I like all the teacups hanging from her light over the table. Each girl came dressed, sorta, as her favorite character. I made mug rugs for each girl to take home as a gift...with their initial on it. Posted them in our projects but I don't know how to add the link to it! Grand daughter picked out the font she wanted for them. As it was a small party, all the girls spent the night & they watched Alice In Wonderland DVD. Post pictures, please!!

Hi Deanna,

I have the movie and Ophelie and I love it. I'd go along with Trish and make lots of cupcakes, lots of red roses (the queen's guards were constantly painting them red!!) in vases or other colours as you like. Ask your guests to wear outlandish hats and give a prize for the best or weirdest ones! I'm sure you will have lots of cups, saucers and plates with all you've been collecting for your shop!

Have lots of old doilies, table runners, lots of lace and old paraphernalia around the room etc. Make everything in a colour theme, say green, pink and white or red, pink and white or something you like. Any little petit-four type food will be great. Miniature macarons and little bits of food so long as they are bite sized. Cucumber sandwiches and mouth sized bites work really well. Love Chris

I remember when the girls were little having it as the theme of our Carnival Day float. It was a wet day and we got rather wet and ended up with many little girls in the bath. Huge fun. I had no idea that Disney had taken it on. We all took different roles and dressed accordingly. Our Carnival Days were always on a none existent budget. Its easy to make a outfit for someone who is a card. I have read the books many times but need to refresh my memories of it. One small girl with long blond hair in a pale blue dress and you have your Alice. I was the Queen of Hearts so wore a red dress. What ever you do will be your take on the mad hatters party. Have fun and good luck

I did get the foam poster board. I thought about cutting them in half putting straps on each end to throw them over the kids head to make cards** let them decorate their cards to wear during the party

It sounds like a fun party! I've only read the book and its sequel, but the Disney take on it will no doubt be very different. So I am afraid I can't help.

Well maybe if the theme is Mad Hatters Tea Party, then why not get everyone to bring a plate of food with that theme in mind..... eg, cookies make and decorated like rabbits ! cup cakes that look like top hats, crazy sandwiches, and don't forget the extra large cups for the tea !,.... just remember it is a Tea Party, which in my books is like an afternoon tea with friends so what would you put on the table for afternoon tea?... just make it a bit crazy , Don't know if that helps or if it is a bit silly sounding, but good luck
