I've tried this type and didn't like it as much as the fabric type. To use mine up I put a layer of this with the fabric one on top..
I use it for FSL as well. I hoop it two pcs & lay one way & the other the opposite way so it is stronger that way.
I use the plastic type stablizer for FSL quite often. Try it, don't be worried it won't work.
Put one of the silica gel packets in the tube or plastic zip bags that you store it in to keep it soft and fresh.
That's what I use! If it's the same brand mine was Gutterman Ultra solvy and it only comes in a 10 metre plastic box. I used mine for towel backing (as the front was similar stuff but thinner and softer) and for FSL. It worked great for both of those things. It is hard to come by now and have bought something but haven't been game to try it as it just isn't the same looking at all. Good luck !
Since most FSL designers call for 2 layers of Vilene, I use 1 layer of Vilene and 1 layer of the plastic sort on the bottom. Hugs. Nan W
I think you have described what my dealer called Badgemaster. Mine came in a plastic tube and is still ok , but the portions that I have used and scraps left over that were not stored in the tube have become stiff and brittle. Yes, it is great for FSL. By all means try it. I plan to stitch out Sonia Showalters charmed earrings and this would be a great time to put it to the test! Kay
I believe katydid is correct - you have Badgemaster. I have it too and like to use it for fsl. It is quite sturdy and washes away well.
I use it for FSL and have a hard time finding it now as my dealer changed to something else.
Is it water soluable if so I use tit when i embroider on towels or anything with a thick pile ....soozie
Unless you live in a very humid place, as I do, Cut pieces to cover your folded fabrics to hold down on the dust!
About FSL, depending on the outer shape of the lace, sometimes I prefer the Vilene as it "tears" away.
i use it for FSL, but not when it is very humid - then it tends to stretch a bit. I save it in a plastic bag and it keeps well.
Some people love the plastic film type stabilizer. Why not try a small 4x4 design and see if you like the results. Maybe a Cutie would like to make you an offer for it. Being years old I wonder if it's past it's prime. I don't know what else you could use it for being water soluble
