I am sure there are many things I have not tried in embroidery. I am with Meganne, I am not going to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. I have not done anything ITH or the fringe mentioned below. I, too, am afraid it will all unravel if I cut the wrong threads. :)
I made a purse for the first time, but I can't seem to load a photo.
Diane
Sky diving is out for me, done the wall of death, the bungee jump while backpacking in au,I would like the textile trip to India but need a companion,so will give the challenge some thought, just to get a picture of my projects on cute would be great.
Ok I will join too.. Just only need about the challenge I will select for myself
Quite a few responses to this challenge have already made an appearance in the Projects section. This has shamed me in to doing something myself today!
I just did that with that ole bear made my very first pattern ever*****lol hugs
I have a lot of things stored up I haven't done and said I would. Now let's see if I can SQUEEZE one of them out, LOL :) FIESTA ;D
Just the prod I needed. Have been procrastinating doing this AnitaGoodesign fringed flower design for fear of cutting the fabric underneath or the threads pulling out. The fringe effect doesn't show well in the picture but all the heart and flower petals are cut. This is on a fleece jacket for our youngest GD
This is pretty impressive, I think. It can be scary cutting those threads. Well done!
Well Every body seems to be making fingerless gloves and I have not made one before so that is a good start. Or skydiving.
OK, well (Marianne) Greysewist has shown me the error of my ways and one thing I haven't done is embroider, not on Polar Fleece, but on Faux Fur and I had been meaning to make myself an owl cushion ever since I digitised the owl face for JerriB to make, Heavens! was that two and a half years ago!!!
I bought the fur fabric ages ago but, as usual, that's as far as I got.
So this is what I will have a go at doing.
Thanks Sue, now when is the deadline?
Hugs n roses, Meganne
Sounds great, but do you mind if I chicken out from skydiving and try something new in embroidery.. marian P.S thanks greysewist for the inspirational list..
I decided this year I was going to challenge myself by doing something I hadn't done. Sew I made a lined bag. I put a double pocket on the back and two pockets on the inside. i did put it on facebook yesterday but here it is for you It is a lot bigger than I thought it would be but great to take to sewing group
hmmmmm i will have to think about this one ,,,, one thing I can tell you for sure it will NOT be skydiving lol
I am going to give it some thought ..................got an idea but I have not done it so will have to see if I am brave enough to try it
Hmmm, do we need ideas of what people may not have tried before (other than skydiving!)? FSL, Applique, ITH -or ITH Zips!, colour work, redwork, Cutwork, mono a handkerchief, umbrella or bottle carrying bag (which could be embroidered), tablerunner, personalised lead or collar for your dog or other pet, polar fleece quillow (quilt/blanket that tucks into its pocket -which can be embroidered on two sides!), tissue holder for a small pack or a box, mobile/cell phone holder, cup/mug/candle wrap, embroidering on a T shirt or windcheater or any other stretch fabric.....someone else can probably add some ideas that you might find too challenging to have attempted yet :)
My brain doesn't know when to stop now...digitising a simple design with that software you've had for years!, cross stitch (machine embroidery or handwork), tote bag or clutch purse, embroider on toilet paper or paper kitchen towel, machine embroidered card or bookmark...
well out of all of these I have not done a paper towel design or Skydiving lol hubs has................sky diving that is
I've not done paper towel either, L, but have been winched out of and back into a helicopter and have been up in a decathlon biplane while it was doing loops, barrel rolls etc etc-close enough to skydiving for me!
Closest I ever came to skydiving was enrolling on a course, just after my 21st birthday as my parents did not give the needed permission earlier. Unfortunately the instructor, pilot and 2 pupils died in a plane crash two days before the course was due to start. Then I chickened out.
I have to think hard of something I have not done before, including sewing a kite my son uses for kite-surfing (needed 40 m of spinnaker cloth), which at least starts at ground level - and often ends in the North sea. lol
I just thought I'd spice it up a bit!
Your story sounds scary though. I wanted to try it about 20 years ago, but my head of department at work and my mother told me firmly that they preferred to keep me in one piece. I abseiled down a cliff instead.
Done that quite a lot in my mountaineering years. Boy, have I become boring since I had kids!
lol nah the kids are grown & now you do what you love to do......so keep doing it. You learning new things all the time Martine & your an inspiration to us all
Like Meganne I have not skydived and sorry Sue have no intentions of considering it as a option. The thinking cap has gone on and in due course I will give a answer
I'll join in the fun...is she jumping off a chair? That's as high as I'll go! lol
Yep, count me in.. You need to install some wifi cameras so we can all follow the jump
Gee Sue, I can't think of anything I haven't already tried, except skydiving, and there's no way I'm going to jump out of a perfectly good plane. LOL!!!
