This is the MR & MRS bunting for the head table for my son's wedding. I used a pennant embroidery design for the base. It's about 9 x 6 inches. I only used the outline for the triangle and I cut it 1 inch above the outline to allow fold over for a casing and cut 1/2 inch past outline on sides. The sides are unfinished so it ravels a little on purpose. I used a tear away stabilizer with adhesive spray and did not put a fabric backing on the burlap like I did for the announcement.

The font is the 3 inch Fishtail font from Daily. Warning: free fonts are not always great especially when they include several sizes. Usually that means they did auto punch for the digitizing. In this case the R was missing a foot that I had to add in myself and the designs have no underlay except for one line of stitching. It worked for this project but if I was using a regular fabric instead of burlap I would have added underlay to the letters.

Thanks for telling how you made it. i am just starting a banner for my sister's farm stand and knew what I wanted it to look like but wasn't exactly sure how to acheive it--now i know!

Great! Show us a picture when you're done : )

I need to change those instructions to say I used a pennant embroidery design for the base. Although, I have seen triangle burlap for this purpose but it is expensive to buy triangles and not cut it yourself.

I like this very, very much.... What I don't like, is the mess burlap made all over my pants this evening. It does get all over you.... I made my wedding announcement, with the ampersand like you. It came out good. I bought some painters canvas frames and was going to stretch it over that and staple to the backside, like they did the canvas. My daughter said we could staple the twine for it to hang by that, but I don't like the idea of the nailhead that you hang the twine on, showing. Anybody got any ideas? IF I can't figure out how to hang it nicely with the canvas frame, I'll get a black photo frame, but I won't be able to mat it. My wording came out about 7x9 so I'll have to use a 11x14 without mat. Great nephews wedding is the week before yours, I believe. Best Wishes to Dan and Alexa-Toogie

Toogie I regularly use canvas frames as a base with fabric stretched over it. I staple this to the reverse, I add a hanger made of a piece of ribbon and then cover the back of the frame with card that is held in place with double sided tape and sometimes a tack or two is needed from the staple gun. To give a neat finish I usually add a layer of something slightly wadded to the top of the canvas frame before I stretch the fabric. If you need further details PM me. My brain is not working fully at the moment so I don't think I have been to clear

Yes! Very messy! I keep a lint roller nearby. I had to iron a blouse after the burlap and I even delinted the ironing board!

I'm trying to picture the back of the canvass. Can a nail go in the wall and the canvas hang without any other hardware? Or can you purchase a small hook to attach to the back of the canvas?

How about a a pretty thumbtack to hold the ribbon to the wall or glue a daisy on to the thumbtack?

I offered to do the last name but she just wanted this part.

Leaha by Leaha 25 Jan 2015

You mean their names aren't Mr. & Mrs. ? :(((((( How disappointing, I'd never met someone with those names before...lol This says it all anyway and I do understand, it's a statement of fact, nothing else needed.

sewmom by sewmom 26 Jan 2015

That and also the fact that although men are called Mr. all their lives, women aren't called Mrs. until they're married so the Mrs. part is new and exciting for new wives.

Lovely work and I am sure that its going to go down very well at the wedding. I just love the way you have used clothes pegs to hold the bunting together. Hope that the wedding is a brilliant day

Thank you. We are getting a lot of ideas off of Pinterest. The clothespins are cute but I was worried they weren't enough so I have the twine inside the casing and the clothespins over that. The clothespins will also hold it to the tablecloth but I'll have safety pins handy to put behind the tablecloth just in case.
