I LOVE this. These metalwork purse tops (don't know the proper term?) have always scared me off. I guess I'll have to find that plane to jump out of.
Lovely purse. I have always wanted to make this type of purse to give to my students at school...but I did not know how to make it.... looks like it is quite a difficult task. This is really beautiful. Hugs..Shyam.
Oh, what a beautiful purse. Good result. Iike the design and choice of colors.
This really turned out awesome. I can really see where the challenge of keeping it in frame came in, but end result is fantastic..
Thank you. Now that I have done one ideas for a few others are coming fast. Got some superb fabric and some lace and lace designs, and ... It will keep me busy for a while.
I honestly do not know how you managed making that. It is beautiful.
Sewing the purse is just as simple as any other, no zipper, just stitched, turned, opening for turning closed. Putting it into the clasp seems easy enough but getting it to stay in place while the glue dries turned out to be a bit tricky. I am consedring stitching it with embroidery floss as an insurance it does not get loose again, the holes are there after all.
Great job, Martine! It's beautiful and elegant. Your granddaughter will be thrilled to get it.
Hugs, Lidia
This little purse will match perfectly with Anna's dress (from the Frozen movie). Great challenge and well done for persevering. Love Chris
She loves the dress, or rather top and skirts, I made her. Did one green and one blue skirt. I thought the Norwegian style needed a Norwegian type of purse as well. I used the same 4 colours that I used for the top and skirts so it will match nicely.
Martine this is lovely and I am sure there will be one very happy granddaughter
Thank you. I hope she likes it, or rather I am pretty sure she will. Dresses and knitted jumpers, she loves them all.
Cute - cute - cute!! Love your design!!! Hugs, Laura*
Wow, Martine......have never worked with these thingys, but you have a beautiful project with a lovely design on it....
The design had to be in the same style as the embroideries on skirt and top, and fit the frame.
Your choice of clasp is fantastic! She'll love it!
The perfect addition to her Frozen outfit..
Thank you. I used the same fabric I used for the skirt and the colours of the embroidery thread are the same as I used for the top and skirt.
It is Awesome...Love it..Here in S.A. we do not get frames like that!!!
I could not get them locally either, but bought them from a webshop just across the border.
This is lovely, I love the design you put on it.
I made one couple years ago and put my initials on it. It was a challenge to get corduroy in the frame. I would love to do one with leather for my mom. I bought her one small for change with metal frame when I was around eight she loved it carried it for years and years. It wore down about 35 years later.
Corduroy, that must have been a challenge. I used a very thin polyester batting and cotton for front and lining. So nice your mother used your purse for so many years!
ziet er heel mooi uit en de kleur groen vind ik ook heel mooi
Love it! The design is so sweet and the little green balls to open the purse is nice. Where did you purchase your small purse frames? I found some before but they did not have the colorful balls. Your little granddaughter is going to love putting her money in this adorable purse.
On a German site - http://www.snaply.de/Naehzutaten/... They are 12 cm wide (just under 5")
Since everything is in German, would you mind letting us know what heading to look under? Your purse is darling!
Sorry it did not take you to the right page.
Go to Nähzutaten - straight under KAM schnapps, then it is the 6th in de menu: Taschenbügel.
This is delightful. I have often though about trying one of these frames, but never got around to it!
When I saw these frames/clasps I just had to try one. And as they were ordered in Germany I thought I might as well buy half a dozen as the cost for postage and packing was the same.
This looks really good, Mops! Did you put a layer of glue along the top edges before you stuffed it into the groove in the frame? I was looking at a tutorial the other day for this and that was suggested. Maybe even overlocking or making a fine seam so it's got more to grip :)
I did use glue. Started by sewing it in, but did not like how that looked at the inside. So I glued and used pliers to force the sides together - with ample felt between the beaks to prevent damage. I hope that will be enough to keep it attached - my granddaughter is rather careful, but you never know what happens when you put too much stuff inside.
Oh this is on my to do list, but am thinking it is hard to get it together, that makes it a bit of a deterrent. It is darling!~hugs~
I think you may now need to put it higher on the list now you've seen how well it can work out. Take a look at a video tutorial for inspiration, maybe! http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/... http://www.liaspace.com/2009/10/s...
thanks my friend I will check it out. I did a sheet & never thought I could so hey who knows maybe I can do this too
That is lovely, your granddaughter will love this.
