Story of my life and love every minute of it . Gotta keep the Aussie/ embroidery world economy going :))
I am off to buy some fabric to maybe use some of my missing designs. Maybe I will put the fabric away while I think about it.
So relieved to hear there are others like me. Feel if they aren't saved there's no way to find them again. Such lovely designs and ideas available.
thanks for the laughs ~ I no longer feel bad about being a design hoarder or should I say collector? ~ hugs, Joyce
it is like collecting fabrics or stamps. you enjoy to own them, to store and admire. it is fun to think about how to use it (or just to know you have somrthing to choose from)
I have a lot of Fabric but I am going out to buy some more for a particular project. Can't use what I already have?
Yes. Keep buying. What you have never fits the project you're currently dreaming of. I bought fabric for a baby quilt and my niece sent me Pinterest photos and the fabric is not quite right. Now, am I complaining about having to go fabric shopping again? No way! Lol
Sometimes I spend more time trying to find designs I know I have than actually embroidering.
The problem is when you buy a pack or set you don't have the time to rename every design in it.
My issue is I buy them when they are on special, put them away in their respective categories and then totally forget I have them! Hugs. Nan W
I know the feeling. Somewhere I have a crow and a Sunflower together. My Stepdaughter loves Sunflowers and her favorite Football team is called the Crows, but where is it?
Whoever out there who could build the perfect database for embroidery designs could make a fortune. If only some computer genesis would take it on. It'll make all of us extremely happy, eh? --Sandra
If you tell Lynn the name or number of the design she can do a search to find it :))
If it was here, Lyn, it would probably be filed under either 'Floral' in a subfolder 'Sunflowers' or 'Animals' in a subfolder 'Birds'. I hate doing searches so try to make it as obvious as possible where to file them :) Best of luck to you in finding them.
We are all guilty of buy designs we love, but if you don't grab it when on special or when you see it you can guarantee will need it for that project you've been wanting to do.. Marian
It is like seeing something in a shop that takes your eye. You don't buy it then go home and you keep wishing you had bought that item.
This regret happens to me when resisted buying that item that just called to me and right afterward i discover the exact need for it--I always dream of what if.
I think of projects for the design and then don't get around to making it.. this year that will have to change.. well at least that is the plan.. hehehe
Well Lyn i don't drink***
I don't Chew ***
And i don't hang around them that do ***
SEW*****I do collect designs and threads and have many of both lol hugs as always carolyn
Guilty! Maybe, maybe not...Is that going to stop me? NOPE! It's my THERAPY...cheaper than a psychiatrist. Easier on my car...not using gas; not running the street...saves on shoe soles; low in fat and caloric intake...saves the waist line. I could go on and on! If it's an addiction so is breathing...ain't gonna stop that anytime soon I hope. Looking at it positively I have now got a reason to live forever! Amen. Thank you, Lord.
could not have said this any better my self...I totally agree with you....now where shall I look to buy my next beautiful design.....
01 30 2015 For me the designs are like art, only more affordable, easier to store, and fascinating each time I look at them. I love to look at the talent of so many people from around the world. It is amazing how something can be done so different by so many people. Example: Santa, depending on where you are from your picture of Santa is different. Another example is traditions behind moments, Christmas, once again depending on where you are from, includes elves, trolls, or advent calendars. A wonderful way to learn about people, countries, and traditions. With this being said, it is what I have missed on each holiday with DBC being down. I know, sore topic, but I miss the art and creativity. I am guilty of saving designs that I will never use since I only have 4X4 space, but it is art. I collect it and appreciate it. I have it saved, backed up, and a second back up kept at a different place. Many thank you to all that have contributed to my collection that is greatly appreciated. Besides it takes up less space than my fabric stash.
You really summed it up nicely! The designs feed our creativity and appreciation of the talent others have to create such art to feed our souls. Learning about how others think and feel help us to become better ourselves at life.
The answer LYN is Never. Just remember how much fun it has been collecting them. Yes Lyn it is an addiction but one that is not hurting anyone else except maybe your bank manager heeheehee. Hugs Marg
I'm with jrob, I'm buying designs because I like them and might someday use them. In the meantime, I enjoy scrolling through and dreaming of what I can do with them. I would rather collect designs than something I have to find space to store and to dust. I'm glad I have this addiction than so many others.
My MIL started me on collecting owls. I have so much Fuchsia Stuff that we collected so decided I didn't want any more so now I collect Owl designs. Not all but what ever takes my Fancy.
I do not drink, smoke or gamble. My addiction is collecting designs. It is a lot healthier, Ha, ha
Me too! And fabric! My aunt packed my sewing room and laughed that I had only 17 bags of fabric. I told her that's my retirement fund! Anybody else out there doing the same?
Yup! Been collecting along time! Mind you, I"m on my second round of a stash. After my first hubby passed away, I couldn't afford gifts or to buy fabric (didn't have an embroidery machine then) and my stash was my savior! I used a lot of what I had and made all kinds of girfts for birthdays and X-mas.
So, my theory is, you never know when you might need it.
Is that why I have so much stash. Have really been indulging since my DH passed away as well. I don't smoke, drink, gamble or go out with bad men. I am too busy doing my own thing.
I sometimes say this is only a dollar a design , them I always buy more than just one.
well at least you can choose when you want to embroider something....
hugs, Gerry
I try to only buy what I will use but sometimes.........
Seeing the lovely rose Sue did on the balsa wood I went there and bought two designs - they had been on my wish list for a long time and I even managed to leave a third on that list.
