Hi, I have the gigahoop and have used it a few times. Used it mostly for large (larger than 5X7) words and sayings. A tote comes to mind that I did with "Domestic Goddess" in large letters with some flowers from Ayeone, and got several compliments. As said below, you will need a software program (I use Embird to auto split) to save the design for proper sew out, but I found it fun and interesting to do something different. Hugs, Cece
Hi Jerri, if you only want to embroidery designs that are larger than our 5x7 will do, then this is not the hoop you want. I made that mistake 8yes ago and still haven't got around to using it.. there are free designs out there for the Giga Hoop but with my messed up filing system can't tell who they are from, I think the Janome site has some. Will let you know if I can remember the other site. Marian
Thank you Marian.
Yes, I thought I could use this hoop for larger than 5x7 designs, so don't think, I will bother to purchase the hoop.
I appreciate everyone's help.
Hugs Jerri
Hope you got it all on the sites, but basically, you have to have a Gigahoop designed design for it to work. You stitch out one side of the design, rotate the hoop and stitch out the other side. You won't know ahead of time if the digitizer did a good job on matching up. It is very useful if you want to make a lot of square pillows....
Thank you for the information. I don't think I will buy the hoop as I was looking to just use regular designs that are bigger than 5x7, as that is the largest size I have.
I checked out the website. It is ayeone .com. Check it out. Lots of free designs and also instructions.
Jerri I just did a quick search for the designs. The website is ayeone.com
Check it out. They also have instructions.
Thank you so much Mary, you have been very helpful. I just don't want to buy it and like you not use it.
Jerri, I bought the Giga hoop about 5 years ago. Sorry I did it. I have never even used it. I know you have to split the design in order to do so. Embroidery library has a short information piece on it. Also check the Janome site. I am not sure if there is any information on there. They should have some type of tutorial on it. I think if my understanding is correct that once the design is split, you have to stitch one side of the design and then move the hoop and stitch the other side. There is a web site that has free giga hoop designs but for the life of me I can not remember what it is. Hugs, Mary
Thank you very much Mary. I will ask a Janome dealer. I didn't think of that. I appreciate your help.
Hugs Jerri
Jerri I cant answer but I think that this or a very similar question has been asked very recently. Hope you get your answer
Thank you, I hadn't noticed anything, but then I don't always get the chance to read all the postings. I just don't want to spend the money and it not work like the other hoops.
