Boy aren't you a smartie, starting on 2015 Christmas projects already...lol Lovely fabric and tree.
Great job! The design might be a tiny bit asymmetrical at the top on purpose - I have never seen a real natural tree that was perfectly symmetrical at the top - except for those that have been clipped into shape. An angel will be a lovely idea for the top of this tree.
I've made this tree too and no matter what I tried, the top looks ugly. I put a star on the top of mine to hide it. I also added red ribbons and tiny bells on each branch tip to dres it up. It's packed somewhere in a storage unit, otherwise I'd show you a picture. The pattern was simple and I'd wished I had added Velcro or snaps on the bottom to remove the stuffing for storage. Thanks for letting me know it just wasn't me! Lol --Sandra
Thank You Sandra. I think Martine suggestion of hand sewing the top before sewing the 3 parts together might be the way to go. When I make another tree I will try this and let everyone know.
I'm so sorry you had such a difficult day. . But I am very glad you got a good start on next Christmas. I agree that an angel on top would be a great finish to a lovely tree.
I love your tree. You will be ready now for next year. Hugs
It is lovely. Getting the top right must be difficult and an angel would be wonderful to hide the slight imperfection. I put that tree on my bucket list and now I wonder if it would help if the three parts were handstitched together with just a few stitches before sewing the seam?
Martine. I have decided that when I make another tree I am going to hand stitch the top before I machine sew the pieces together. That way you know the top will line up and be much neater. I could even take mine apart and stitch the top again by hand.
This is a great tree, I see it that you are ahead of everyone, this year you will be sitting back admiring your little tree while everyone is panicking trying to get theirs made at the last minute..... well that is my excuse. If you don't mind a thought, I had a set of Christmas lights that wouldn't work anymore they were stars, instead of throwing them out I cut them off the electric wire, where the wire went to each star to hold the colour bulb fits just right over that top bit of the tree, and it hid my funny bit at the top.Trish
I went out the other day to buy fabric (can't use what I already have) for more Christmas trees. Looked atthe fabric last night and decided it would suit something else better. Your stars sound like a great Idea. I am wondering what I can add to the tree as decorations.
I also added small bells on the end of each branch, my daughter does beading and she suggested crystal beads and the end of each branch.
No picture showing Lyn but I am sure it looks beautiful. Hugs Marg
That is what I said Marg. Nothing is working for me today. Will try again. Hope it works after 2nd try.
Thanks Lyn. I should have given more information. It was not only your post that the pictures were not showing it was all the pics on the site. Hugs Marg
