hi all. once again i thank you all for the insight. I decided to go with a babylock spirit. i was going by gut feeling, was having second thoughts about it being older (she claimed she bought it in 2010, and lack of warrenty ect) yes the spirit is a bit smaller hoop but brand new was the same price as what she was asking used. i have nothing against used machines but was just a gut feeling that i went with babylock.
I don't own a Topaz, but I do have an older machine - live the darning stitch No 21 - did wonders on the tears in DH work fine white shirts.
Of course, the best thing to have beside the machine is a good service man.
Good luck.
Did you check pricing with a dealer. They were having specials on the Topaz line new.
I have a Topaz 30, I bought it used for $1500 over a year ago and I love it. The 2 largest hoops I have are 360 x 200 and 260 x 200. I didn't have any lessons other than the lady using it while I watched before I bought it. Have a look on the kijiji adds in your area for a used machine or as I did approach a dealer and ask if they know of anyone wanting to upgrade and sell their older machine. Good Luck
hi yes i am buying it used and i will be going to her house to see it in action before i give her the money. i was just wondering if this machine had alot of problems as i hear the quality of the machines have gone downhill over the years. my budget is very tight and its a lot of money for me.
thank you all. i will have to drive about 2 1/2 hrs to get the machine and i will not pay without making sure it works well and i would be happy with it. $3500 is ALOT of money for me but its nothing compared to what the comperable machines are IF it does what it is supposed to do. I do alot of in the hoop quilting and i wanted to be able to do 8x8 squares i have swp to convert files so thats not a problem. My pe 770 has over 36 million sitiches and its only 2 yrs old. so yes i sew alot .
Hy Tammy, welcome to Cute Embroidery. I have the Husqvarna-Viking Topaz 30, I bought it over five years ago. Its largest hoop measures 200x360mm (7.87x14.17") and I own the 7.87x7.87" (about 8x8") as well as other hoops. It's a good machine that works best in cool weather or in an air-conditioned room.
Hugs, Lidia
Yes Tammy i love my machine and i sew 10xs more then most people and it has sewed non stop for awhile now .Don't be afraid to buy it ok
If you want to know more send me a private ok hugs Carolyn
You make some wonderful things are yours Lidia! Carolyn uses her so much I think it provides heat for her home.
I think we all wish we had machines that would work for us day and night and help us produce beautiful things without the issues some embroidery machines have.
Dear rescuer, I might be wrong but I think that most or every machine has some issues, big or small. We have just to learn how to use our machine. Hugs, Lidia
Dear Carolyn, sorry that I have taken some of your comment space......Hugs, Lidia
Don't have the machine but belonged to their Yahoo group for quite awhile because they were giving away excellent freebies. It looked like a lot of problems to me, but of course, I don't know how many they have sold nor how many members there were on the site. Everything seemed to be a work around. Try to find real owners and ask lots of questions, but especially what it does best and what problems they have had!
I do not have the machine -- but the link may provide some help
I went to the Viking site. There was topaz 25, 40 and 50. No #30. Go and read comparison info. Big hoop not on 25.Here is link.
