Looks as if you've been given some good answers on types to use. Most tutorials I've read on doing lace say to use only 1 design at a time in the closest size hoop you have to keep the WSS as tight as a drum, but in saying that yours don't seem to be any worse for wear doing them all in 1 hoop.. well done have fun doing lots more. Marian
Yeah i have seen those too....but just gave it a try and luckily it worked:) (didnt wanna waste any wss at all....there were 3 layers of it;) hahaha)
Thank you for looking!
I use wss Vilene you need two Layers and tighten your Hoop scews with a Coin and you should be alwright hugs
They look great. There are different weights of Solvy-Solvy,the thinnest, I use on top. Then there is Super Solvy-don't have it, but it's a bit heavier. What was my first wash away is Ultra Solvy, a much thicker product. I still use it , and it works fine. I also have a lot of the Vilene type, which I use more often. Sometimes I will float a piece of Ultra Solvy under the Vilene.

Thanks dear....i know now that i got the thinnest one meant for topping use....no problem can do lots of towels n velvets i guess:)
Will get vilene soon or sulky ultra or badgemaster.....these three seem to be the most popular!
Forgot to add that I cut strips of paper towel or my cut away scraps, and put those on all 4 sides of the hoop between the vilene and top hoop to help keep it from slipping. I do tighten the hoop as much as possible, but doing this seems to help a bit more. And- I do multiple designs in one hooping if possible.
Lovely, it's such fun and amazing to me that they hold together as they are only thread. It's just pure and simple magic!
I know....its very fascinating to me too!:)
Hats off to the digitizers too who do such a great and foolproof job! Thanks for looking!
very pretty. love the large butterfly. I've done hundreds of FSL and tried everything on the market, the very best is Badgemaster, never had a failure with that and only need one layer. IMHO
Thank you so much:)
Your confidence with badgemaster is tempting me too to try it out soon...thanks!
Yes, I prefer the white 'cold water washaway" (has fiber) that leaves some substance over the Vilene or 2 layers of Solvy. Exception, something that is totally round is so easy to "punch" out after stitching on the Vilene.
They look great. I agree with everyone else, it is addicting. I also love Badgemaster and have used Aquacloth. I'm getting hooked on the FSL earrings and candle wraps now. Happy stitching.
They look great. I make a lot of angel for give away. I like doing FSL
I have a friend that blings them up after I embroidery them with crystal etc
That sounds like a great idea...will try it some time for my little girl!:) thanks a lot!
Kudos to you for venturing out and trying FSL. And it was a beautiful success too. I love Bademaster and use scraps for a second layer and have never had any trouble.
I'm not familiar with Solvy, but I use 2 layers of vilene for fsl. I use a temporary spray to hold them together. I also use shelf liner on the hoops to help keep the stabilizer in place without shifting.
Lovely designs & now you have to watch because fsl can be addictive lol
the right wss makes a big difference. I like the fibrous kind for free standing lace & the plastic looking one for on top of most other embroidery. ~hugs~
I totally agree with you:) haha...it is very addictive!
Cant wait to try out more designs! Thank you for your suggestion too!
they came out very nice! I use Badgemaster for FSL It is thick and works well. Suzanne
Nice job...especially since you had to use the Solvy...just think how much easier it will be the next time with the proper WSS!
