Well, I do find some differences between some stabilizers, especially the tear aways. My favorite is Florini. Some tear more cleanly than others. I want to try World Weidner's after I use up the roll I have.
However, I find no differences in Vilene wss. I buy a 50yd roll of it from
World Weidner too.
You can spend a ton of money trying different stabilizers, plus the fact that you need a few different kinds. You do have to experiment a little to find what works for you and gives you the results you want, so I'd buy a small amount before purchasing the big sizes.
I get my stabilizers from World Weidner - cut away, wash away, tear away - and all work very well for me. I have also used Floriani but it is much pricier and I have not seen any difference in the results.
Thank you, I've bought one from Amazon that was through World Weidner and it worked just fine for me too.n Good price for larger roll.
I have no preference over name brand but do have a strong aversion to cut-away. My primary stock includes, tear-away, Solvy, fiberous WSS, and fusible no-show mesh. Each type of stabilizer serves a specific purpose to the type of embroidery substrate.
Thanks! That's kind of what I was looking for, I didn't know if brands mattered. Cut aways are a pain, I agree.
I have used allstitch.net for years. They supply all kinds of embroidery supplies including stabilizers, hoops for machines and blanks.
So it doesn't matter what brand of stabilizer? Solvy, badgemaster, or vilene for wss? Do you like to use more of the sticky tear away or prefer the cut aways? I find that I prefer not to hoop the designs if I don't have to. I like the sticky or I spray the cut aways. I have bought thread through allstitch but not stabilizers. They have very good customer service.
I have stabilizers from allstitch & it's works great. Also have that topper that you can "iron" away after embroidery. Sometimes I don't want to wet the project as I'm always running late & need to stuff it in a gift bag & run! Most of it tears away & very little you have to iron away.
I like The Embroidery Store. I discovered them a few years back, My favorite is the wash away tear away, I use it on all my kitchen towels. Rarely do I need to use more than one layer. Kay
