I've heard of a person wanting a new machine....but I think your attempt to obtain one is a little extreme!!!!! LOL Evidently you did too, it is really cheaper to change the needle isn't it! I need to make myself a note to remember to do this. glad things worked out for you.
I would not have the room for another machine. I already have two and can only use one at a time.
I've read that it's wise to change the needle with each new bobbin wind. Is that too often? Can the used needles be used when sewing on a non-embroidery machine or are they blunted? Thanks
You don't need to change the needle that often. You'd have to be changing needles more than once to even finish a single big design! You'd be wasting a lot of money by buying new needles when the old ones will work well. A lot depends on the kind of needled you use. Titantium needles last a really long time. I don't change my needle until I notice the stitching is coming out nicely. Usually when I change a needle I set it aside. If the stitching doesn't improve, I then know that it's not the needle and I can still use the needle I set aside.
Thank you. Been embroidering for 3 years and constantly learning. So much fun.
Think needles tell you when you need to change them or at least mine did. Actually that needle hadn't been in that long but must have been just what I was sewing which made it so blunt.
Glad that that new needle was the answer to your problems yesterday and so glad today was an awesome stitch day for you. When you are tired and everything seems to be going wrong, that is the time to walk away and try again later after you are rested and have calmness to help guide you to figure out what the solution to the prior days problems might be. Glad you listened to that little voice trying to guide you as it saved you another day of frustration if you had not listened.(hugs) Pam
Glad you took a breath...it always seems to help...and I'm with Chris...a bit of bubbly never hurt either!
I'm glad you figured out what was wrong and did not toss the machine in the trash.
Thanks for the tip. I had a similar problem with an ith bunny I was making but thought it was the fabric. Didn't even think about the needle until now. I think I have had the same needle in there for the last 6 months, not used it much except at Christmas and a couple of small projects since. Guess what I will be doing next time I use it?
Lyn, you did the smart thing...........walk away from it!!
Glad to hear the machine got a second chance!!!
Cindy
Well done Lyn, when in doubt change needles, thread, rethink, even have a glass of bubbles! Glad it's working for you now. Love Chris
Love my machine today but not yesterday. Amazing what a new needle can do. They can keep you sane.
