I was told there was an update for my machine but I had to have XP computer to do it. Since I now have Windows 7 I had a friend who has XP and we tried for 4 hrs on 1st day and could not download and I called brother and we tried again 3 hrs and could not. I called a dealer 40 miles away ( they were the closest) and they said they had an XP so I drove down there, and guess what the sales girl was wrong cause they had no XP computer. They checked what the upgrade was and it was just a color change !!! wasted gas (80 mi total) 1 day and all the stress and aggravation for a change of a color name !!! So before you upgrade make sure it is something that you really need .and want. I could live without the name from sunny yellow to yellow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha ha... sorry it was such frustration for you and this is why I'm not really curious about this upgrade..... I guess I'll just wait for the next upgrade. In any event I will have to buy a brother embroidery card to make any upgrade so I'll be looking for one. Thanks for your input
I got an answer to my question about my machine not having enough disk space to upload the update files. They sent me a link and it tells me that I can only use a type of usb/disk as mentioned..... so I won't be able to update my 1500D by myself which means I'll have to buy a card that it will use or have a dealer update the machine. FUN lol Because my machine is working well and I do not have any problem opening designs I am simply going to wait until any new updates tell me that I MUST update!! Hope this helps, the link is below.
I have a V5 and didn't know it could be updated, so will look further into it.
Thanks for sharing the information, Jo
I followed the first steps but discovered that because my machine connects directly to my computer, the disk size is only 476 KB and the update from the website is too large to add to the USB. I've sent an email asking for a solution so am waiting for their answer.
I have not updated since I purchased it in 2007. I will go onto a Brother site in Australia before I attempt an update. Hugs Marg
Dolly, at the moment I think I will do nothing. If your machine is working OK is it worth the hassle. Marg
Very interesting! I am like dailylaundry and have th exact amchine and have never updated it . I will try to read up on this and see how everyone is going with it. :)
Good luck to all.
I have never updated my Innovis 1500D either. Only mentioned that to my daughter about a month ago. Will have to look into it. I have had my machine since Dec 2007.
Great news for you dailylaundry !!! :) Mranderson I bought mine the same year !!!! :D I will probably leave mine too as I get a bit scared if I were to muck it up ! :( I'm not very IT savvy. Dolly I wonder the same . Good luck to you both anyway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D
yes.. totally worth it and very easy to follow instructions..
well I tried to do this by following instructions and totally messed up my machine.. now i have to take it to the dealer... good thing I have an extended warranty.. nuts.......
after reading some comments on the site i decided to use a different usb stick that was smaller and it worked... yes now it is upgraded for the color changes with different thread companys.. that is a great upgrade..
So I guess I should try doing this. My machine is directly connected to my computer so I'll have to be more careful! Thanks.....
Thank you, Dolly!! I am going to take a close look at this as I have a Brother 1500D and have never updated it. Hugs to you, Laura*
I have updated in the past by following the instructions exactly. Used a USB drive and it worked perfectly. I am going to check again for new updates. Last time I used the Brother USA website that I found by Googling. Haven't yet read your article, just wanted to quickly respond.
