with terry cloth or other towels I too use wss on top and bottom
as Martine and Baydreamer discribed, it gives a nicer crips look in the end
cut the top piece wss only a bit larger than the design in all and my machine can tak down basting frame around design first thing, you will make a great towl I am sure
thanks for your advice, I need all the help I can get :)
I am going to try and put an applique bee with open arms on a towel for my Grand daughter, I got the design from cute applique, will post when I have it done :)
I would use WSS with an applique on a towel , it's like Mops said it's so easy to cut the towel material. Also the edge of the applique will look better , it stops the stitching from sinking into the pile of the towel.
I wasn't sure if I had to cut the wss away at the same time as cutting the material, but it is easier to leave it as you have said. thanks for your help, will post the pic when I have done
I use topping under the applique even when there are no parts of the embroidery that are not completely on the applique fabric as I want to protect the towel when cutting the fabric back. The bit of wss under the applique will dissolve when washing the towel, so I leave that.
No need for topping when doing appliqué. Hugs. Nan W
thankyou I am concerned about the stitches getting lost in the towelling as I have been told !!!
Actually it is better to use washaway topping. Without it it is too easy to cut the towel loops when trimming the applique fabric.
