AND to you Sue, it will be Mothers Day in the Middle East on the 21st so to those Mothers, a happy day to you!!
Happy Mother's Day to you too. We only celebrate Mother's Day here in South Africa in May.
Happy Mother's day for all of you! No matter the reason, no matter the custom it's wonderful to stop and take a day to say I appreciate and love you.
For the benefit of those not in UK. Originally, children and young people who were "in service" (as household servants) were given a day off on that date so they could visit their families (or, originally, return to their "mother" church). The children would pick wild flowers along the way to place in the church or give to their mothers. It has changed a bit in recent years and not all for the better. The queues of people clutching bunches of flowers in Tesco yesterday were very long!
I am told that Morrisons was equally manic. I escaped for a day out with no supermarkets :)
Thanks Suelyn and a Happy Mothers Day to you too from another UK Cutie. I have been given a beautiful white orchid and a bacon sandwich (for my breakfast) by one of my daughters and a handmade card from the other
"happy someone-elses-made-up-excuse-to-sell-flowers-and-chocolates" was the message I got this morning by email. She who makes her own rules celebrates Parent's Day for us - her own invention.
That sounds a excellent idea. It is sad that there are so many occasions now to sell, sell, sell and the original meaning has long gone for many
