Very simply beautiful (unless you have to digitize it, that is.)
Beautiful biscornu mops. The contrast between the fabric and stitching really makes the design pop. Well done.
Love this :) The blue fabric and white thread is perfect! Is this fabric denim? I LOVE to recycle old jeans -I have sewed in these few years five bags and three bags are a half-ready.
It is a charcoal coloured woollen fabric, recycled trousers of one of my husband's suits, ruined by a large rectangular tear.
these are absolutely lovely, I would really like to have a go at making one of these, looks like a beginner like me could handle these? can you tell me where to purchase your designs from, many thanks
You can find the one pennifold did on www.mygardened.com and there is a free one (not cross stitch) that you could try out on http://youembroidery.com/23614_bi...
Martine this is so beautiful the white cross stitch on the blue is just a perfect combination....soozie
Just one word : it is splendid!!! Thank you very much for sharing your work..Amitiés de France
Absolutely beautiful Martine. It looks so old fashion, like it stepped in from another era. I love it/Lillian
Wow Martine. ...it looks lovely! How lucky that you can digitize the designs yourself as you want....I wish to learn that too :)
Cross-stitch modules are the easiest to use. It is really child's play. Unfortunately they don't sell those separately, only as an optional extra to the "normal" software programme. I did this in 6D (Premium). You can set 3 axes of symmetry, horizontal, vertical and diagonal and only have to set your crosses in one eighth of the square, so you can see the effect immediately. It really could not be easier.
Hahaha :) thank you so much Martine. ...very sweet of you to share this information!
Will get back to you soon with all.my queries about digitizing once I gather courage to really start!!!
That is lovely. I had not thought to try white thread on blue. I was stuck in the unimaginative red or blue work on white. Will the pattern be available somewhere?
To be honest I used the back of a leg of a discarded pair of trousers, a mid-weight charcoal grey woollen fabric, with a large right-angled tear in it. It embroidered beautifully. There's enough left for at least three others - or some other project.
Beautiful! I always enjoy your explanations and suggestions for making a pleasing project.
Martine, these are truly beautiful........great projects being made from these designs!
Thank you. Minimal effort, great effect. You can hardly call it digitising, that's why it is such a nice treat between more difficult digitising jobs.
for those that don't know can you please explain the different way they are sewed??Love this one hugs
You can
1. sew them by machine Right Sides together pinning the corners of one piece to the middle of a side of the other piece, leaving an opening for turning, or
2. iron your seams to the back and whipstitch the two pieces Wrong Sides together.
Dear Martine, I was wondering why my uploading of my post was taking so long, you were doing yours at the same time I was! Love Chris
I must have been posting comments when you posted. As you can see I could not wait trying one out myself lol.
White on a dark color is always a beautiful result. Now I am waiting for the biscornu, it will be a great work. Thank you very much for sharing.
Amitiés de France.
really lovely Martine. Do you use a shiny thread (ie a normal embroidery thread) or something a bit thicker/less shiny???
I used embroidery thread as I could not locate my 30 wt cotton thread which I prefer, it gives a more handmade effect as it is both thicher and less shiny.
Oh Martine this is lovely, now I look forwards to seeing it sewn up. Must be late in your bit of Europe?
Thank you. It's 11.15 pm, so I'm off to bed. I'll have a go at it tomorrow and edit this post by adding it.
