It is 20 past nine in the morning and it is getting dark. In about 20 more minutes we will have an almost total solar eclipse. We seem to be in a prime position in our part of England as the sky is clear (for the first time this week.)

It is quite spooky. Mike is trying to take photographs. I'll report back if he is successful.

Here are a couple of pictures. The graph is the readout from the solar panels!

Excellent pic! Eclipses are very cool. I saw the last lunar eclipse and another one is coming in a week or so.

What has been interesting is seeing comments on the BBC news pages of what happened and where. But this afternoon it has clouded over and rained so I realise we were so lucky to see it so very, very clearly this morning

Didn't see much of it today - only the sky darkened a bit for some time but nothing spectacular. So you were more lucky in Lincoln area!!
Sunny greetings - Maria

Wow! The solar panels really tell the story of the eclipse. It had to be amazing since I remember an eclipse at week years ago and we were all out watching it in the reflection of a windshield.

Thanks for sharing it with us. The only one I remember was very unnerving. It got so quiet and still.

Great picture Sue. I remember as a child living in Twickenham seeing a total eclipse. We all went to school with our little pieces of blackened glass.

Its been very interesting here and the cat has gone mad. We have totally clear skies so it have had about a 90% eclipse. It has completely passed Gruff by as he kept trying to escape from the garden. I have found it interesting as the bit of the garden that goes dark last was the part that was affected first. The grey light is lifting and the birds are starting to sing again

Interestingly, our birds kept on singing. We met a neighbour while we were walking the dog at 9.45 and she hadn't noticed it! She was wearing sunglasses but still.......

Lucky you! I hope Mike can get some nice pictures.
We are having a grey sky. Usually the sun makes the clouds dissolve, but a 84% eclipse does not help doing that.
Remember one when I was in my early teens and one in '99 - strange experience to see it get dark in the middle of the day.

We were on a train between Grindlewald and Zermatt for the one in 1999. We did see it, but not as well as today.
