I have a new Singer Pro 5 which I haven't had a chance to use yet. Also have a Janome one. I like the Janome one but wanted one with cover stitch.

I have a Janome old one in fact only 3 spools but I LOVE it! I think the jet air threader would be great to have. but for what I paid for mine way back when the fact it is still humming right along is great! It does the job well each & every time. That said it can be a pain to thread so I am sure the newer ones would have that improvement too. Try like mentioned below so you can feel & see the differences on your own fabrics. Take them home & compare....(the fabrics I mean LOL)

I look forward to hearing your choice. I have a huskylock 1000 - good machine, unfortunately I had a table fail and the machine went down. Time to look for a new one.

My previous comment was lost in cyberspace.

Have a look at the link below.

I recommend taking your own fabrics and testing the machine including threading and switching between overlock and coverstitch. Make sure they show you what the machine really are capable of.

I went through a similar process 18mths ago when my old serger kept jamming when sewing fine fabrics. It would feed the off cut strips back into the machine and get tangled and messy.

I opted for a babylock enlighten and separate janome coverstitch. No more jamming and best of all the babylock has air threading. The janome is so easy to thread and has a free arm. Here in Australia it was cheaper for me to get separate machines and quicker to switch between machines rather than converting the one machine several times each project.
Have fun choosing

Suggest you see it demonstrated to see how it is threaded and if it converts to cover stitch. I have an old Viking 936. It works great. However, I don't use it very often. I always get confused/frustrated with switching from serger to cover stitch. I'm sure they have improve by now. The auto threading that dragonflyer and 02kar mentioned sounds great.

I'm with Karen...BabyLock is fabulous! I have the Evolution...Jet Air threading..a dream...also does the cover stitch and wave stitch and lots of others...total of 8 threads...I can't say enough about it...I hope you find exactly what you are looking for...

I can't help you with the Viking sergers. I can tell you that the Babylock sergers are the easiest to thread with jet-aire threading. And no messing around with tensions. Their sergers also have the overlock and chain stitch in 1 serger. I do hope you find the serger of your dreams.
