your sashing needs to be in proportion to the size of your block and then make up the difference if it is too narrow for her bed with wider borders. How big are your blocks? If they are finished 8 I think a 2 inch sashing is big enough. Pin some blocks onto big pieces of muslin or paper with a group of 4 set different widths apart and look athem for a few days. You could try the 1.5, 2 and 2.5 inch differences on the seperate groups of 4 blocks or whatever you choose. Will the sashing be the same as the background of the blocks? You might be surprised at which setting you like in the beginning versus a few days later.
I am with the rest of the cuties here - some money and praise or
" bye bye and these are mine" as you sweep the blocks into your arms.
These are So pretty and So well done. Does she have any idea about machine embroidery? The hours alone stitching these out, not to mention the cost of the thread, fabric, stabilizer.. this is not cheap and I think you might have a beautiful quilt to call your own. And as several people have asked who is doing the quilting? This lady might be very surprised at the actual cost of "ingredients and time". This is not a department store quilt.
Hmmm...it looks to me that each block should be around 20,000 stitches if they are the small size, and if there are 30 blocks, that make 600,000 stitches. I think that meets the 80,000 expectation. She probably doesn't know how many stitches there are in this project or how much time it takes you to make each block. I know my LQS was charging me $300 for a king size quilt just to quilt it with a meandering design! Did not include the cost of the fabric, batting, backing, speciality threads fo rthe birds, labor, etc. I'd tell her the total price now, so that if she doesn't want to pay that, you can keep the quilt for yourself and do whatever you want to finish it. I'm thinking $700+
Wow!!!!Stunning...So Awesome!!!!Hard work put into This Quilt...But....Every Stitch Worth it for sure!!!!Well done..Great work you have done!!!!
Great looking layout. Will be beautiful once done. I like 2.5 to 3 inches.
Wow! It is gorgeous. I have no idea why she would not be happy with this. You have done a super job on it.
Wow, it is going to be lovely when it is all together. Hope she give you something for your time & materials. Quilting hobby is not cheap these days. Not sure were you live but here in Canada fabric is not cheap unless you get it on sale. Hope she is happy with it.
Happy Stitching Brenda Lea
it looks terrific. It is always a good idea to discuss price first & get half up front. Since you have come this far I would not do anymore until she pays you half then you know she is serious about the purchase. just what I have learned through the cuties here & very good advise too
It looks beautiful. She should be happy regardless of the stitch count. I know I would love to own it. Happy sewing Shirley
It looks beautiful! A King size bed measuress 76 in × 80 in (193 cm × 203 cm). So it depends on how big your squares are here. I like a 2 1/2 inch cut strip between each square. You can add borders to give the final size. Good luck with it all. I would be thrilled to received something like this and so I do hope she does. Love Chris
Looks good. A king size is my size not number of blocks . Width 92 by 100 Length 94-104 , I would ask what they want it all has to due with the depth of the mattress. R U quilting it too! Good Luck!
If she wants to be that picky and count stitches when her quilt is THAT beautiful! I don't think she's getting it and I would charge her a little more! LOL. I don't think anything in going to make her happy. It should be about the end product not the stitches!
Beautiful job!
such a georgous quilt! i know the time involved in doing such a project for i am doing my granddaughter a full size one and each square is 8x8 and I am doing each square with embroidered butterflies. each row takes 9 squares and it takes 9 to 10 rows and i am not quite finished yet. i have a friend who has a quilting machine and will quilt it for me whenever i get it done. So if the lady doesn't appreciate it it is her loss. people don't realize the t ime involved. good luck on this project.
