Gorgeous, my mother made pillows like this and I finagled them when she passed on. I knew it was some sort of hand stitching but it never occurred to me it was smocking.
Thanks, jane
Anscheinend bin ich unterzuckert, als erstes habe ich eine Schokoladentorte gesehen . . . erst jetzt habe ich realisiert das es ein Kissen ist – super Arbeit! :))
I remember my grandmother making these beautiful pillows.. Hers were always satin. She made them for lots of family and friends. Yours is lovely!
What a fantastic cushion! Congratulations, Fatima. I have never seen this shape before.
Hugs, Lidia
I just realized how I sounded. Ha. I'm so sorry. This is beautiful. I've never seen these pillows before. I had all sisters and daughters. I guess I've fallen into the all boy zone. Everything is either a tractor or monster truck. This makes me laugh cause I used to feel creepy in the boy toy section of Walmart. Haha. Again, I apologize.
Oh how I want to make one of these. Looks like a monster truck tire. My 3 year old grandson would completely flip out!
What was once old is now coming back in style. Great job they look lovely. Happy Stitching Brenda Lea
Remembering my mother-in-law making these. Yours are beautiful.

Hi tfk, thankyou so much for sharing the youtube site. Regards Lorraine McNeill of South Australia.
This is a great tutorial, I did find it when I was looking for ruched cushion, but could not get the link to work right.
Thank you for the link! I will have to try one of these....as soon as I have finished the next 367 quilts that I have to do! lol
Beautiful! Wish my hands would let me do things like this again.

I remember watching my mother sew these about 50 years ago. Glad to see them making a come back. Yours look beautiful. hugs, Susan
Hmmm Made me hungry for chocolate when I spied it. Fantabulous piece of work. I love it/Lillian
Looks like yummy chocolate! Great work on the smocking! These are just wonderful.
What a fabulous project! The smocking gives it such a lovely flowing shape. If you do a satin one, please post a photo!
Love them - they look like chocolate cakes!!!!!
WOW! they are amazing, I think you have done a great job. Love it
You did a great job on this "trial" cushion! It looks like a chocolate cake! :)
This 'trial' size came out very nice, so I am anxious to see the 'real' size! ..If it's too small for your use, maybe the little girls in your life, could use it for their dolls. It really is lovely.-Toogie
Thank you so much Toogie :)...
Well its not too small that it cant be used as a cushion....so its just going to get its place on my sofa!
Its around 10 inches in diameter!
Impressive...when I first looked, I thought they were chocolate cakes!!!!
Lol...now I am starting to wish they really were :)
Thanks a lot dear for the yummy thought!
Very pretty! Makes me remember smocking on the large check/gingham fabric and my grandmother smocked a pink and white bodice of a sundress for me. Thanks for showing us. Well done!
At first I thought they were cake as well . That looks very complicated
great job......
Me too...What a gorgeous cake was first impression!!!!Lovely great job...
Wow these are gorgeous I too thought they were cakes. Well done if this is your first try you did an amazing job
It is...had been wanting to do these from a long time but used to get intimidated by the procedure. ..but its pretty easy :)
Thank you!
I don't think I could have this around me , I would want to eat chocolate cake all day long. Beautiful!
Lovely cushions...stitched this type of cushions back in the 70s while still in school.....still have a book on this type of smocking. Thanks for inspiring..will have to look for the book. Hugs... Shyam.
Wow this has been there from so long didnt know that....even I didnt exist back then....lol :)
Even if you dont find your book theres a lot of info online! Many different patterns too....I myself want to give other designs a try!
Thanks a lot dear!
This is lovely. I did some cushions like this back in the 70's. A lady that comes to my stitching bee asked if I could teach her smocking so I'm trying a baby dress as "revision"!
Just a thought - when I first saw your picture I thought it was an enormous chocolate! (Wishful thinking probably.)
Hahaha :) I too was thinking I would add to my post....because of the difference in lights doesnt one look like a dark chocolate cake and the other milk chocolate cake....lol!
Thanks a lot :). ..do share with us when you are done with the dress.....would love to learn that too!
